The mottos and goals of middle and high schools should include and present the image of an ideal person that students want to resemble. In addition, behavioral characteristics that students are able to gain should be clearly stated.
On the basis of these policies, not only the management of each school but also the mottos and aims of individual school education should be created and modified by means of all the school faculty members who participate in deciding school matters.
However, the goals of school education tend to be frequently created by the educational board of the government even though each school has the right to decide on its matters. Consequently, the characteristics and traits of school might be ignored due to concentrating more on the school principals or homeroom teachers. Specifically, the future of the education depends on what the aims are. Therefore, each school should have its own specific goals which are attainable.
Through this current study, the researcher examined how many people recognize their school mottos, analyzes the effect of school mottos and goals on school activities, and explores the roles of education in the field of current education.
The following is the findings of this study:
First, based on the analysis of the responses to the items of the questionnaire, this study found that the most popular school motto was concerning sincerity which gained 22 percents. The second one was regarding diligence that had eighteen percents. The third popular motto was about creativity with nine percents.
Second, the study also found that there was no significant differences between the current school mottos and the ones which were used thirteen years ago. However, there was a slight difference in terms of the creativity and globalization. The current mottos focused more on these two factors such as the creativity and globalization.
Third, according to the results of the questionnaire, the majority of school teachers and students recognize their school aims or school mottos. Besides, the participants thought that these mottos did not affect on school education in spite of the fact that they realized school education should be emphasized. The subjects of this study thought that the school aims or mottos need to be modified to fit into the current educational situation.
