장애아동가족의 사회적 지지와 가족적응에 관한 근거이론연구 = A Study on a Grounded Theory of Social Support and Family Adaptability in Families of Children with Disabilities

Abstract

The birth of a child with disability comes to bring about a big change enough to change all the patterns in daily life to a couple in one family. The child with disability requires a rearer's care and sacrifice for a long time.
A research on the children with disability and their families had focused mainly on psychological impact & grief, and difficulty & distress in rearing that parents receive due to appearance of children with disability until before the 1980s. However, the recent movement is proceeding with advancing to the direction of trying to enhance these people's quality of life by improving hostile environment for the children with disability and their rearers. In this perspective, the purpose of this study is to help with understanding about the adaptation process of the families of children with disability by analyzing on the process of proceeding with being slowly adapted to society while the families of children with disability accept children with disability after nicely dealing with oneself who had been confused by birth of a child with disability, along with social support necessary for rearing children with disability. Furthermore, the aim is to propose necessity for achieving social integration, by being eternally performed the service toward people with disability over the whole lifetime in children with disability, namely, the social-welfare service toward these people with disability.
Given discussing with the center on important facts that were discovered in a study, first, the situation of rearing children with disability was established as the central phenomenon of being shown in the hope collecting for children with disability. Second, the hope collecting for children with disability was indicated to be progressed with the stage of situation caused by rearing children with disability, the stage of resources around, the stage of overcoming reality, and the stage of family adaptability. Third, a type of the hope collecting for children with disability was set to a type of designing positive future, type of designing ambiguous future, and type of the will to overcome reality.
This study observed the surrounding on social support for families of children with disability. There was the research participants' approach to how the family adaptability in families of children with disability is changing in the process of giving birth and rearing child with disability, and to which things there are ultimately in social support necessary for rearing children with disability. It analyzed the process of proceeding with making a living while interacting in the individual, familial, and social dimension with experiencing crisis in family, which occurs while rearing child with disability.
Mothers of children with disability and those families need to be common life even in them as if being common life that we experience. The experience they suffer is not new experience of escaping from daily life. However, they also need to smile and cry with the same contents as if we smile and cry at ordinary times. In reality now, they proceed with making special life, simultaneously with having special experience that is not common. Social welfare, of which we dream, needs to exist so that any class can proceed with making the same life.
