In order to cope with the phase of the times, the focus of education is extendedly transferred from higher education to secondary/primary education, and even to young child education. The scene of young child education can be classified into a childcare center and a kindergarten in general. The basic guiding principle of a childcare center is edu-care which is based on a standard edu-care course whereas that of a kindergarten is the education which is based on its course of education.
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference between the standard edu-care course which was newly enacted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and the kindergarten education course which was modified by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2007 and then present basic data for the education which was appropriate to both educational facilities. For this, the investigator comparatively analyzed the character, composition, purpose and aim, content and assessment, related laws and administrative organization of both educational systems and examined the difference between both educational agencies by finding out the trend of young child education and edu-care.
Study findings are as follows:
Literature examination shows that the standard edu-care course and the modified kindergarten education course are different in their related laws and administrative organizations which are basic frame of both educational agencies. In addition, both courses are greatly different in children's age, the level of edu-care and education, the number of school days and school hours. However, from the aspect of their character, composition, purpose and aim, and content and assessment, both courses are very similar except some terminological and expressional differences. Because there are many similar points in the standard edu-care course and the modified kindergarten education course, many sympathize and agree with the necessity of integration of both courses in general. However, because both facilities are basically established with different services, the edu-care/education which is appropriate to both educational agencies must be well utilized.
