This study aimed to give suggestions to run small and middle youth sports clubs more efficiently. Also, this outlined the purpose of youth sports clubs, instructors, parents, programmes, and sports equipments in order to examine some problems.
A manager who has been working at a youth sports club for six to ten years is selected as a subject of this study by Purposeful Sampling method.
This study has been conducted by performing both semi󰠏structured interviews and in󰠏depth interviews. These interviews were processed in recording, transcription of materials, and then did coding before found suitable theme. Also, it were processed of finding the truth of data through data release with participants, getting a review and discuss these with specialist.
Results derived from the research are following:
First, motivations about managing youth sports clubs were an experience gained from a college and satisfaction about the works. The purpose of managing youth sports clubs turned out to be similar with which of education that aimed to help physical, mental, and social growths of children and kept a balance between mind and body as they do sports.
Second, claiming that instructors were regarded as the most important thing about the youth sports clubs, the manager of youth sports club prefers to hire well󰠏qualified instructors who have at least bachelor degrees, great interests about sports, ability to teach children by making them having fun, and were warm󰠏hearted to take care of them. What was more, the manager inclined to hire male and non󰠏athlete instructors rather than female or former athlete instructors.
Third, it was found that parents made a great influence on whether or not their children decided to participate in sports clubs, manager’s organizing curriculum, recruiting a new member and a role of monitoring.
Fourth, it was found that programs at sports clubs were more various, exciting and funny than after school program was. Furthermore, these programmes provided suitable facilities, equipment, leisure events and a culture experience with the appropriate number of persons for each lesson.
Fifth, feeling insecure about the facilities as well as equipment, the manager has shown concerns about larger and prospect of future.
Sixth, registration has been done with words of mouth of parents, a signboard, and a sports club vehicle advertisement.
All in all, as a result of this research, problems are about a lack of the goal of youth sports club, a problem of instructor, poor circumstances, hardly different programs.
As to improve those problems, there are suggestions.
First, be distinct with a view to specializing in sports clubs.
Second, improve facilities at youth sports clubs.
Third, recruit instructors specializing in sports.
Fourth, strengthen communication with parents.
Fifth, an activity information service.
Sixth, take measures to prevent accidents.
