People have the more loss in the senescence than any other age group because of the personal determinants from the decline of body functions, the loss of spouse, the loss of job, the economical hardship, and so on, and the social determinants from the shrinking of socio-relation network, the sense of isolation, and so on. By the reason of economical hardship, the loss of health and role, loneliness, alienation, and so on, the loss make them face up to the hard life problems that have never experienced before, and the solution for this they tend to commit suicide as the extreme way.
The elderly suicide and suicide rate are constantly increasing for the last few years with the increase in the elderly population. The constant increase like this presented as the largest in 30 OECD countries, and by this result the elderly suicide rate in Korea is reported also as the highest in OECD countries, and even though compare to the Asian countries, the elderly suicide of over 65-year-old in Korea is more than doubled in Japan that is known as the highest suicide rate country. It is considered that the reason of the highest suicide rate in OECD is from the elderly's after all.
In relation to the elderly suicidal impulse, with the present study, we try to grasp the necessity to confirm the elderly depression, the daily life stress, the self respect, and the influence of socio-support, and try to grasp how much these variables have influence on the elderly suicidal impulse and which variable have more influence on it. Further, we try to grasp not only the direct effect that the depression, the daily life stress, and the self-respect influence on the elderly suicidal impulse, but also the indirect effect that influence by the medium of the socio-support. It aims at preventing the elderly suicidal impulse after finding the variables to ease the elderly suicidal impulse. As a result of the study, it is presented that the points of suicidal impulse are rising in the man, the hypochondria, the lower points of positive self-respect, the higher points of residence environment stress, the higher points of family trouble stress, the higher points of health care stress, the lower points of emotional support, the lower points of evaluated support, and the higher points of information support.
