매체전환텍스트를 통한 매체언어교육 연구 : 원작 만화<식객>과 영화<식객>을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대사회는 새로운 매체의 등장으로 문자언어와 음성언어의 매체환경에서 벗어나 다매체 환경의 모습을 보인지 오래다. 이제 매체는 사회구성원들의 다양한 의사소통 기능을 창출하고 문화를 생산해내는 역할을 보다 적극적으로 담당한다. 국어과 교육은 이러한 매체환경의 변화를 수용하여 학습자의 문화·매체 문식성을 발달시킬 수 있는 매체언어교육을 실현시켜야 한다. 하지만 이를 위해 선행되어야 할 매체언어교육의 구체적인 교수·학습 방법에 대한 연구는 아직 미비한 실정이다.
본고는 만화에서 영화로의 매체전환으로 생산된 매체전환텍스트의 분석을 통해 국어과 매체언어교육의 교수·학습 방법을 모색하고, 이것이 구체적으로 어떻게 실현될 수 있는지에 대해 논의한다. 이는 그동안 매체언어교육의 위상과 성격, 목표와 내용이 주를 이뤄온 기존의 연구에서 한 걸음 나아간 시도로, 국어과 매체언어교육의 구체적인 교수·학습 방안을 제시하는 연구가 될 것이다.
먼저 ‘Ⅰ.서론’에서는 연구의 필요성 및 목적 , 연구사 검토, 연구방법을 서술하였다. ‘Ⅱ. 매체전환과 매체전환텍스트’ 에서는 매체전환과 매체전환의 개념을 정리하였고 ,만화에서 영화로의 매체전환과 매체전환텍스트에 초점을 맞추어 각 매체의 특성을 제시하고 현재 활발하게 생산되고 있는 매체전환텍스트의 현황에 대해 논의하였다. ‘Ⅲ. 매체전환텍스트 분석’에서는 원작 만화<식객>과 매체전환텍스트인 영화<식객>을 대상으로 만화와 영화의 매체언어에 대한 분석이 이루어졌다. 매체언어의 전언성과 형상성을 파악하기 위해 본고는 채트먼이 제시한 서사적 텍스트의 2원 구조인 이야기와 담론을 분석의 틀로 삼았다. 만화와 영화<식객>의 이야기 분석은 인물과 에피소드를 중심으로 , 담론은 샷, 색상과 조명, 사운드, 담론-시간 중심으로 각 매체의 매체언어와 그 변형 양상을 분석하였다. Ⅲ장에서 이루어진 분석 절차 및 결과는 Ⅳ장의 ‘매체전환텍스트를 통한 매체언어교육’의 교수·학습 과정을 통해 실현된다.
Ⅳ장에서는 매체전환텍스트를 통한 매체언어교육의 교수·학습 목표를 바탕으로 교수·학습 방법이 논의되고 교수·학습 모형과 실제에 대한 연구가 이루어졌다. 매체전환텍스트를 통한 매체언어교육은 학습자들의 문화·매체 문식성 발달을 목표로 ‘매체언어’과목의 교육과정을 고려하여 교수·학습 방법의 방향을 설정하였다. 또한 Ⅲ장의 매체전환텍스트 분석 절차에 따라 학습자들의 탐구과정을 진행시키고 On·Off-line 수업과 프로젝트 수업을 통해 학습자의 매체언어에 대한 경험기회를 늘리는 과정중심의 수업 특성을 갖도록 하였다. 이를 통해 설계된 교수·학습 모형은 실제를 구현하는 데에 중요한 토대가 된다. 매체언어교육의 실제는 총 8차시의 교수·학습 계획으로 본시 교수·학습 지도안을 통해 구체적으로 제시된다. 매체전환텍스트를 통한 매체언어교육은 위에서 제시한 교수·학습과정을 통해 학습자 스스로 매체언어를 이해하고, 사회·문화적 맥락에서 이를 향유, 생산하는 능력을 신장시킬 수 있는 효과적인 교수·학습 방법이 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It has been a long time since the emergence of new media enabled modern society to enjoy multimedia environment beyond the conventional media consisting of written and spoken languages. Now, the media play a bigger role in realizing diverse communication among members of society and producing culture. Against this backdrop, Korean education should embrace the changing media environment and facilitate media language education that nurtures cultural and media literacy. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of studies on media language education in terms of specific teaching/ learning methods which are prerequisite to facilitate the education.
The purpose of this study was to seek teaching/learning methods of media language education by analyzing texts produced by media conversion from comic books to movies; and discussed how the texts could be applied in media language education. This study went one step further beyond the previous researches, which primarily focused on significance, characteristics, objectives, and contents of media language education to present how Korean language teaching can facilitate media language education by offering concrete teaching/learning methods.
To this end, the introduction of this study described the necessity and purpose of this study; reviewed relevant previous studies; and explained research methods. Chapter 2 looked into the basic concepts of media conversion and texts produced by it. In particular, this chapter presented characteristics of each medium by focusing on texts produced by media conversion from comic books to films; and gave an overview of the current state of such texts, which are now in active production. Chapter 3 presented an analysis of two languages of media: a comic book, Le Grand Chef and a movie based on the comic book - a text created by media conversion. In order to identify message and formation of media language, this study based its analysis on Seymour Chatman’s analysis of narrative, which provided the clear distinctions between "story" and "discourse." To identify "story" of media languages of a comic book and a comic-based film, Le Grand Chef, this study focused on main characters and episodes while examined shots, colors, lighting, sound and so on to analyze the changing aspects of "discourse."
Based on the analysis procedure of texts produced by media conversion and aspects of media language education described in the chapter 3, chapter 4 discussed teaching/learning methods of media language education and examined practical teaching/learning model. This study ensured that media language education based on texts created by media conversion would be carried out according to teaching/ learning methods presented in curriculum, and analysis procedure of media conversion texts presented in chapter 3 to enable learners to develop cultural, media literacy. This study also ensured that media language education would put more emphasis on learning process itself and provide learners with more opportunities to experience media language by providing both online and offline course, project-based class in the teaching/learning process. The concrete teaching/learning model of media language education developed by this study lays the groundwork for applying practical teaching/learning methods in classroom settings. The presented media language education is designed to be carried out with 8-step teaching/learning plan and accompanied by both online and offline project-based course. Through this process, media language education based on texts produced by media conversion will effectively enable learners to understand media language, to enjoy it in a social, cultural context, and to be capable of creating a new media language on their own.
