To grasp the general property of sample, frequency analysis is performed and basic data is calculated by using technical statistics quantity of average and standard deviation. Further, it is verified in the reliability level of 95% by using SPSS 12.0 for Windows statistical package program. Then, the following conclusion can be drawn from the outcome of research.
First, it is found that if the aged are more satisfied with the sense of ego integration, they are more satisfied with life in the past, present and future. With respect to the social support and satisfaction in life of the aged, if the level of emotional, informative, material and evaluation support perceived by the aged is higher, they are more satisfied with life in the past, present and future. With respect to the influence that social support of the aged has on satisfaction in life, if the level of emotional, informative, material and evaluation support perceived by the aged is higher, they are more satisfied with life in the past, present and future.
Second, analyzing the relation between ego integration and social support of the aged and anxiety over death, it is found that the higher ego integration of the aged lowers anxiety over death. On the contrary, investigating correlation between social support and anxiety over death of the aged, no significant correlation is observed between social support and anxiety over death of the aged.
Third, analyzing how satisfaction in life is affected by the ego integration and social support of the aged, it is found that if the ego integration of the aged and the level of emotional, informative, material and evaluation support perceived by the aged is higher, they are more satisfied with life in the past, present and future. Thus, it is found that ego integration and social support have the same quantity of static influence on their satisfaction in life.
Fourth, it is found that with respect to the influence that ego integration and social support of the aged have on the anxiety over death, the higher ego integration of the aged lowers anxiety over death of the aged. Thus, it is found that though ego integration negatively affects anxiety over death of the aged, social support has no influence.
Notwithstanding such outcome, this research is subject to the following limit.
First, as the aged using welfare facilities for the aged in Daegu are arbitrarily utilized for sample instead of nationwide probability collection, the outcome of this research may be subject to limit in generalizing towards all old people.
Second, since this research is performed on relatively healthy old persons, the outcome may be different from that of terminal patients or the aged who are to decease soon.
