The purpose of the present study is to investigate literature response shape concretely according to medium modification under environment that literature is expressed by various media, and to look at the characteristics.
For the present study, I look at expression of description through medium development by advanced investigation, find about what a picture book, a flash fairy tale and animation are, and look at about how <puppy dung>, a theme of the present thesis was expressed according to medium change in the Chapter II.
The study object, the theme and the study method were written in the Chapter III. A response paper and a description of the impressions of fifth grade pupils were written in the present study after the fifth grade pupils in three classes that I am working in Kwangyang City respectively watched the picture book, the flash fairy tale and the animation. The response paper is to look at response about literary components, and the description of the impressions is to look at free response about literary experience about <puppy dung>. Also, definition and category of literary response in the literary response centered on a learner, so the response category to be investigated in the present study was defined
The literary components were investigated by being divided into a character, background and an event, and they remembered more characters in the animation than the picture book and the flash fairy tale in case of a character. They showed the most proper response in the picture book in case of time and space background, and showed no response the most about the theme in the flash fairy tale and the animation. They were allowed to find and write the most impressive picture, words, scene and sound, etc. in case of response about a medium text, and most of them were focused on and responded to the words.
The response collected through the response paper for free reflection was divided into understanding, emotional, analytical and judging response and reviewed. As a result, the understanding response should be basically performed for work appreciation, so it mainly appeared a lot in the picture book and the flash fairy tale. Personal feeling expression of the emotional reaction was shown a lot in the flash fairy tale compared to the picture book and the animation, and connection appeared almost similar. The analytical response is to read literary works and analyze behavior of a character or an event by readers themselves for understanding this, so it appeared much in the picture book. The judging response appeared to three types, which are judgement of character behavior in a work in a personal view or judgement of expression method of the work or selection of a value on a moral and social standard, and normative judgement appeared the most.
As a result of analyzing about the literary response of children like this, the suggestion about literary impression education according to the medium type is as follows.
First, they are allowed to develop an appreciative eye capable of understanding characteristics and components of the respective medium and appreciate the work. Most children concentrated on writing and words, and appreciated the work without understanding about a medium. A recent picture book expresses things that cannot be expressed by the writing as pictures rather than having a character of an illustration that a picture assists the writing. Therefore, an eye for reading the writing and the picture together is necessary when they read a picture book.
Also, one story is formed in the flash fairy tale by acting voice of a dubbing artist, movement of characters and sound & background music together. They should read variation of the voice of the dubbing artist, expression of characters or movement of hands and feet, etc.
And, the animation is made by making more efforts than the flash fairy tale. The animation defined in the present study has a strong character of an animation movie for children, and a role of the background music is very important, and movement of a camera, the voice of the dubbing artist, description of characters and a background picture, etc. are all made in mutual complemental relations. An eye appreciating literary works through understanding about a medium like this is expected to improve much more.
Second, selection of the medium should be different according to the objective of literary education. The past literary education viewed ability analyzing and interpreting detailed elements of the literary works as literary ability. Afterwards, the center of the literary education is moved to readers while response-oriented literary education appeared largely, but a ship goes to a mountain if we ask only response of the readers without recognition about the detailed elements of the literary works that is an original target of the literary education. Therefore, it will be better to select a medium suitable for an objective under detailed literary study objects of a teacher.
Third, education about difference according to the medium type is necessary. Expression of the literary works was respectively different according to the medium type. A part of description development was deleted or added. The story was ended by meeting between a bud of the dandelion and puppy dung in case of the flash fairy tale, and a scene that the puppy dung is sacrificed for the bud of the dandelion. However, all children memorized previous experience and knew this part, and a leave of a persimmon tree newly appeared but didn't obtain special response from the children in the animation. However, if they see all the three kinds of media, it is thought that the response about different points could be deduced.
The present study has limitation that analyzed only the response paper of children. It is a pity that in-depth response analysis was not carried out through diverse nonverbal response at the time of appreciation and an interview.
