The subjective is female schools from selected 10 schools located in Seoul with 200 samples collected. Data processing is carried out by using SPSS/PC+ program in case of questionnaire.
In this study, the following results are acquired:
First, it is found that those teachers percept the fact that the physical education makes significant influence on the balanced human development and its importance in terms of education for the whole man.
Second, in examining the current physical education status, the facilities and tools are appropriate, but there is no sufficient numbers of gymnasium or physical facility with scarce of the number of teachers who received physical practice training.
Third, in the results of indication status of physical education curriculum, female schools seem to have confidence at a appropriate level in their leading physical education class, and they thought they had teaching skills at more than normal level. In addition, they felt difficult to carry out the expression activities among the physical education class areas while felt the easiest in the game activities. The female schools have preference in class in playground and the reasons of the preference are because children prefer it, it is helpful in mitigate stress or in improving the physical health, while the reasons of not preference are because attention for children to pay attention becomes weaker and due to bad weather or environment. They responded that they observe the defined physical education class time, but if it is not observed, the reasons were because they were busy in doing other school event preparation and excessive work loads. The female schools thought there are difficult points in leading the physical education curriculum, due to being complicated in preparing class, lack of practical skills of teachers and safety issues, in order.
Fourth, according to their opinions, it will be more effective operation methods in physical education learning if increasing class efficiency by still maintaining the 3 class hours weekly as present, by adding teachers who would be in wholly charge of the class. As the prerequisites to improve quality of physical education class and curriculum, they consider the nurture/placement of teachers who are wholly in charge of physical education curriculum and the reduced work loads related to miscellaneous jobs and events within the school.
As seen above, several proposals are drawn from the results and the process of this study as follows, in order to put correct physical education class in place at elementary schools.
First, more indoor gymnasiums or mini indoor gymnasiums should be added to schools at various levels to solve the difficulties in carrying out class at playgrounds.
Second, physical education class efficiency should be increased by nurturing and placing the teachers who would be wholly in charge of physical education, also to ensure it satisfies the children's desire for physical movement.
Third, teachers' physical skills should be improved by making training curriculum more various and qualified to ensure more teachers will have confidence in practice.
Fourth, more detailed and effective textbooks should be developed for teachers may lead physical education class more easily.
