It is really an important thing for most juveniles to worry about their future career and to make up their mind what to do in their adolescent period. In particular, the professional high school students who should probably get a job right after the graduation are suppose to worry still more about their future career.
A family is the most important surroundings among several circumstances which are around an individual as a basic organization in our society. Many family types have changed a lot in their forms owing to the increasing single-parent family or parentless family. There must be lots of difference in social support and career maturity which each juvenile expects and recognizes according to their family types.
Therefore, through this research, I intend to offer some fundamental materials of education of career consultation which fits the students by investigating some influences that social support will give career maturity after I look into how much difference is between career maturity and social support of the professional school students according to their family types.
The measure of Career maturity made by Lee Gihak and Han Jongcheol(1997) was used to search into career maturity of the professional school girl students, and the measures of social support made by Park Jiwon(1985) and revised by Sim Mihee(2002) was used.
I have created a few inquires as following for this research.
A. Is there any difference according to their family types in career maturity of the professional school girl students ?
B. Is there any difference according to their family types in social support that the professional school girl students recognize?
C. What influence does social support produce upon career maturity for the professional school girl students ?
The professional school girl students who lived the countryside that borders on the North Korea were surveyed. I have performed t-test, Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson's Correlation Analysis using SPSS 12.0 program.
The results are as follows:
First, as a result of it there is any difference according to their family types in career maturity that the professional school girl students recognize, I can see meaningful difference in it. Career maturity for the professional school girl students of single-parent family or parentless family turns lower. Besides, the lower measure of career maturity in the all items but independence shows a meaningful difference as their family types and results in being lower for the professional school girl students of single-parent family or parentless family.
Secondly, there isn't a meaningful difference in social support that the professional school girl students recognize according to the family types. The result of having analyzed social support shows a meaningful difference in social support form home protectors according to their family types, and the professional school girl students of single-parent family or parentless family has the lower one. There is no difference in social support from their friends and teachers.
Third, as the result of having analyzed what influence social support produce upon career maturity in the professional school girl students, social support brings career maturity to a meaningful effect, and social support from protectors of a home or from their teachers produce some influence on career maturity, however, social support from their friends don't produce any influence on career maturity.
If I put all results together, there are some differences in career maturity according to their family types. No difference in social support. There are some differences according to their family types in social support of protectors, and we can see that social support produces some influence upon career maturity.
