국어과 교육에서 '교육토론'의 내용 연구 : 2007 개정 국어과 교육과정을 바탕으로 = The study of the contents which is 'academic debate' by the Korean language Curriculum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The debate is one of the methods to search a countermeasure of discord through argument by democratic civil society. But the argument makes the critical and overall thinking power be activated, also has the important value educational.
Like this the possibility of getting an educational value in order to be, the debate which sets is rightly 'academic debate '. Therefore the contents handled importantly by academic debate were checked through contents system of 'academic debate' by this research. And the academic debate guidance contents of '2007 revision Korean language curriculum' were analyzed with the foundation of this. And each school classroom by proposal tried about guidance plan of academic debate.
The contents emphasized by academic debate through contents system of academic debate were known. First, the process for which debate is prepared and the process put in order also emphasize academic debate. Second, emphasized to defend fixed form and procedure. Third, the attitude which understands the viewpoint of the one heard aggressively and the other party is emphasized. Fourth, improvement of the critical and rational thinking power through the general linguistic use is emphasized.
Like this academic debate of '2007 revision Korean language curriculum' was analyzed with the foundation of the elements emphasized by academic debate.
So with the following conclusion was passed.
Academic debate of phase of primary school is basic and consists of it focusing on fundamental activity. And with the part of speaking the activity which emphasized from the Part of a listening to be different in because, complementing lesson through connection between the part of this two has to consist. However, education to the role of the practice and the audience of hearing the other opposite party's insistence well has to be complemented at a Part of a listening. And activity related to evaluation has to be made up at a part of speaking. Like this 'academy debate basic models ㉮, ㉯' can be given by an academy debate model balanced with phase of primary school.
Debate lesson of a middle school phase chose a system as 'the internet debate'. After critical analysis power and judgement are brought up through this, emphasis is in raising the attitude which participates to a debate actively.
However, breaks the connection of debate academy, weakened the importance of debate lesson. Also learning the attitude which pastes because of feature, is the Internet debate is difficult has a problem. Therefore, In order to solve like this problems from must add a typical debate lesson in middle class process. The students from the classroom take a lesson about debate and the possibility of gaining the debate experience which is various in order to be, must be improved. To be like this from middle class process typical debate, if executes debate studying in the focus, most applies in debate lesson ‘Congressional Debate’ methods there is a field possibility in the model which is appropriate.
Debate lesson of a high school phase of puts emphasis to bring up the high thinking power and learn the way to settle a problem right. However, preparatory process before debate weakens, and there is an insubstantial problem to the posture of participating in debate. 'CEDA(Cross Examination Debate Association) system debate' and 'Karl Raimund Popper system debate' can be given by an academic debate model which fits in with the debate lesson of the high school phase.
A study to academic debate of our country is the stage begun surely now compared with United States and United Kingdom. The interest comes to be higher in future about academic debate, the research is activated and wishes. And the help where this dissertation educates a debate from the school becoming, wishes.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

토론은 민주 시민 사회에서 논쟁을 통하여 갈등의 해결책을 탐색하기 위한 방식의 하나이지만, 토론의 진행 방식인 논쟁이 비판적이고 종합적인 사고력을 비롯한 여러 가지 사고력을 자극하고 활성화하기 때문에 교육적으로도 중요한 가치를 가진다. 이렇게 교육적 가치를 얻을 수 있도록 가공한 토론이 바로 ‘교육토론’이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ‘교육토론’의 내용 체계를 통해 교육토론에서 중요하게 다루는 내용을 알아보고, 이를 바탕으로 ‘2007 개정 국어과 교육 과정’의 교육토론 지도 내용을 분석해 보았다. 그리고 각 학교 급별로 교육토론의 지도 방안에 대해서 제안해보았다.
교육토론의 내용 체계를 통해서 교육토론에서 중시하는 내용들을 알 수 있었다. 첫째, 교육토론은 교육적 목적으로 가공된 토론인 만큼 토론이 진행되는 상황과 더불어 토론을 준비하는 과정과 정리하고 평가하는 과정도 중요하게 다루고 있다. 둘째, 일정한 형식과 절차를 지키는 것을 중시한다. 셋째, 적극적으로 듣는 자세와 역지사지의 태도를 중시한다. 넷째, 총체적인 언어 사용을 통한 비판적이고 합리적인 사고력의 향상을 중시한다.
이렇게 교육토론에서 중시하는 요소들과 ‘2007 국어과 교육과정’의 개정 내용들을 바탕으로 각 학교 급별로 제시된 교육토론을 분석해보았을 때, 다음과 같은 결론을 내렸다.
초등학교 단계의 교육토론은 토론을 처음 접해본 학생들의 수준에 맞게 기초적이고 기본적인 활동을 중심으로 구성되어 있음을 알 수 있다. 그리고 말하기 영역과 듣기 영역에서 중시하는 활동이 다르게 때문에 이 두 영역의 토론 수업이 올바로 진행되기 위해서는 영역간의 연계를 통한 상호 보완적인 수업이 이루어져야 한다. 그러나 듣기 영역에서는 상대방의 주장을 잘 듣는 훈련과 청중의 역할에 대한 교육이 보완되어야 하며, 말하기 영역에서는 평가와 관련된 활동이 보충되어야 한다. 이와 같은 초등학교 단계에 알맞은 교육 토론 모형으로는 ‘아카데미 토론 기본 모형 ㉮, ㉯’를 들 수 있다.
중학교 단계의 토론 수업은 ‘인터넷 토론’이라는 방식을 통해 비판적인 분석력과 판단력을 기르고, 자신의 의견을 적극적으로 개진하여 토론에 주체적으로 참여하는 태도를 기르는 것에 중점을 두고 있다. 그러나 토론 교육의 연계를 깨뜨리고, 토론 수업의 중요성을 약화시키며, 인터넷 토론이라는 특징 때문에 바른 태도와 자세를 배우기 어렵다는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위해서라도 중등 과정에 전형적 토론 수업을 추가하여 교육 현장 안에서 토론의 지식에 대한 수업을 받고 이를 바탕으로 다양한 토론 경험을 쌓을 수 있는 방향으로 개선되어야 한다. 이렇게 중등 과정에서 전형적 토론을 중심으로 토론 학습을 실행한다면, 토론 수업에 적용하기 가장 적절한 모형으로는 ‘의회 토론’ 방식을 들 수 있다.
고등학교 단계의 토론 수업은 토론의 여러 유형을 배워 토론 활동을 해 봄으로서 고등 사고력을 기르고 올바르게 문제를 해결하는 방법을 학습하는데 중점을 두고 있다. 그러나 듣기 영역의 토론 수업은 토론 전의 준비 과정이 약화되어 있고 토론에 임하는 자세와 태도에 대한 내용이 없는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제들을 극복하고, 10학년의 수준에 맞는 토론 경험을 쌓을 수 있는 교육 토론 모형으로는 ‘세다 식 토론’과 ‘칼 포퍼 식 토론’을 들 수 있다.
이번 논문을 준비하면서 우리의 교육 현실에 맞는 교육토론에 대한 연구가 많이 부족하다는 생각을 가지게 되었다. 교육토론에 대해 연구를 계속해 온 미국이나 영국에 비해 우리나라의 교육토론에 대한 연구는 이제 막 시작하는 단계라고 볼 수 있다. 앞으로 국내의 교육토론에 대한 관심이 더욱 높아지고, 연구가 활성화되어 토론 문화가 자리 잡을 수 있는 터전이 마련되길 기대하며, 이 논문이 학교 현장에서 교육토론을 적용하는데 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바란다.
