      1. Purpose of study
      The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of social work practicum by examining influences of social work practicum on career development. On the concrete, I would like to notice the factors considered of affecting social work practicum such as students, supervision, institution, and college. I also would like to study the relationship between social work practicum and professional consciousness of social welfare, career decision making status, career development that explain career awareness and behavior differences of social welfare students.
      2. Method of study
      The targets for this study were arbitrarily chosen from among social welfare students in third and four grade with practicum experience. Answers from 280 respondents were finally analyzed for the study and collected data were statistically processed through SPSS 12.0 Analysis.
      3. Conclusion
      In conclusion, the study showed that while satisfaction measurement of selection of major influence on professional consciousness, career decision making status, and career preparation behavior by and large, satisfaction measurement of supervision positively affected career preparation behavior. Therefore, I suggest that since measurements for supporting positive career development of students were not enough, a minimum of systematic criteria on social work practicum is necessary.
      Second, not only the support of supervisor and college, but also personal effort is important to obtain positive effect on career development and professional consciousness.
      Third, in order to improve specialty of supervisor, social work institution needs to offer appropriate education opportunity considering the fact that measurement of supervision have an impact on career preparation behavior of students.
      Finally, systematic curriculum for effective social work practicum is necessary, and it leads to positive career development.
