복합문화공간에서 제공하는 다원예술교육프로그램의 실태조사와 활성화방안 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대사회가 발전함에 따라 현대인들의 삶은 더욱 세분화, 개별화, 전문화 되었으며 틀에 박힌 것에서 벗어나는 탈장르화를 겪게 되었다. 사회 내 다양한 분야들은 상호발전하며 복합화 되었으며 다양한 분야들 중 문화예술분야 역시 여러 형태의 예술을 아우르고 있는 다원예술을 등장시켰다. 예술 간 경계가 모호해지고 다양화 되어가는 이러한 여건은 문화공간 역시 다원예술을 수용할 수 있는 복합문화공간으로 변화시켰다. 다원예술과 복합문화공간이 각광받고 있음에도 국내의 많은 문화공간은 단일장르에 국한되어 운영되고 있는 것이 현실이다. 게다가 다원예술의 경우는 아직도 정확한 이론적인 정의가 내려지지 않고 있다.
본 논문은 다원예술과 복합문화공간의 등장배경과 개념, 그리고 다원예술과 복합문화공간의 관계성과 국내와 국외의 복합문화공간에서 실시하는 다원예술프로그램의 현황을 살펴보았다.
20세기에 불어 닥친 포스트모더니즘에서 뿌리를 찾을 수 있는 다원예술은 다문화시대로 변화하는 세태를 반영하여 나타난 문화예술의 새로운 형태이다. 삶의 양식이 다양화되면서 문화예술계에서도 다양한 예술적 가치의 실현을 목표로 하는 새로운 문화가 생겨났는데 이것이 바로 다원예술인 것이다. 다원예술은 말 그대로 복합적이고 혼합적인 특성을 내포하고 있으며 장르 간 상호교류를 통한 새로운 창의적 가치를 부각하는 작업의 의미를 가지고 있다. 현재 다원예술은 예술분야의 새로운 비전으로 발전하고 있지만 전 세계적으로 다원예술의 개념은 모호한 상태이며 국내 다양한 곳에서도 다원예술의 정의를 논의하고 있다.
복합문화공간은 문화와 공간의 개념으로 설명할 수 있다. 문화는 사회 전체의 삶을 이끄는 가치체계이자 공동체와 개인의 지향점이 일치하는 것을 추구하는 인간행위의 총체라 할 수 있다. 문화공간은 이러한 인간행위를 담고 있는 포괄적인 개념이라 할 수 있다. 복합문화공간은 문화예술의 전반적인 활동을 수용할 수 있는 문화공간을 의미하는 것으로 예술인과 수용자 측면이 종합된 개념이라고 할 수 있다. 복합문화공간은 이제 다양한 예술교육프로그램을 제공해야 하는 임무를 가진 문화공간이다.
해외의 복합문화공간의 다원예술프로그램의 예로 뉴욕키친극장, 거스리 씨어터 그리고 워터맨 아트센터를 들 수 있다. 아트센터 안에 사용하지 않는 부엌을 사용했다하여 얻게 된 이름인 뉴욕키친극장은 새로운 성향의 작품 기획과 지영발전에 필요한 다양한 종류의 예술프로그램을 선보이고 있다. 거스리 씨어터의 경우 대부분의 공연을 자체 제작하고 있으며 새로운 경향의 실험극 또는 다양한 형태의 교육적 목적을 가진 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 워터맨 아트센터는 예술 장르 간 전통적 벽을 허문다는 목적을 가지고 있으며 지역 주민들이 예술을 쉽게 접하고 즐기도록 유도하고 있다.
국내 복합문화공간의 다원예술프로그램으로는 세종문화회관과 고양어울림 누리, KT&G 상상마당을 들 수 있다. 한국을 대표하는 문화예술기관인 세종문화회관은 재정적 어려움을 극복하고 현재는 공연과 전시 등의 프로그램 및 예술교육프로그램을 운영하는 등 많은 변화를 일으키고 있다. 경기도 고양시에 위치한 고양어울림누리는 경기도 최대의 복합문화체육시설이다. 홍대에 위치하여 누구에게나 열린 공간인 KT&G 상상마당은 ‘예술적 상상을 키우고 세상과 만나고 함께 나누며 행복해지는 곳’이라는 콘셉트를 가지고 많은 사람들에게 다양한 장르와 볼거리를 제공하고 있다.
복합문화공간은 공연예술이 중심이 되어 새로운 문화예술이 창조되는 공간이다. 이 공간은 다양한 문화적 기능을 포괄하는 복합시설의 역할을 맡고 있으며 지역의 문화적 주체를 기르는 교육의 공간이라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 예술교육프로그램의 운영이 다변화되는 사회와 맞춰가지 못하는 것이 현실이다. 국내 복합문화공간의 다원예술프로그램은 한정된 장르와 대상에 편중된 것이 사실이며 프로그램의 질적이나 양적이 면에서 많이 부족한 실정이다.
이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위해서는 먼저 다원예술교육프로그램을 다양하게 개발해야 하며 참여대상을 확대시키고 교육 자료의 개발 및 정보기능을 강화해야 한다. 또한 타 단체와 네트워크를 형성하여 특별기획프로그램을 운영하고 프로그램 참가자와 운영주체 간의 커뮤니케이션을 형성해야 할 것이다.
다원예술의 정의가 명확하지 못한 점은 본 연구의 한계점이었으며 이는 복합문화공간의 중요한 기능 중 하나인 다원예술교육프로그램의 활성화를 어렵게 만드는 요소이기도 하다. 때문에 다원예술의 정의는 빠르게 이루어져야 할 것이다. 또한 복합문화공간에 있어서 교육기능은 가장 중요한 기능이기에 다양한 접근과 시도를 통해서 다각적 차원의 연구들이 끊임없이 이어져야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

With the development of modern times, the present generation is becoming more fractioned, individualized, and professionalized. Diverse fields in society are growing mutually, and the field of culture and art has also produced a interdisciplinary art that includes a variety of different art forms. This status which breaks boundaries between different arts, has changed into complex art centers. Despite the fact that interdisciplinary art and complex art centers are receiving attention, domestic art centers are operated on a single genre. Moreover, interdisciplinary art has not yet been given a theoretical definition.
This thesis examines the appearance and concept of interdisciplinary art and complex art centers, its relationship with each other, and interdisciplinary art programs that are being implemented domestically and internationally.
Interdisciplinary art is a novel art form that arrived which has its roots in postmodernism that appeared at the start of the 20th century. Along with the pattern of diverse lifestyles, a new culture appeared in the field of culture and art, which is interdisciplinary art. Interdisciplinary art produces a mutual exchange among different genres of art. Although interdisciplinary art is budding as the new vision of art, it is still at a obscure stage, and many are attempting to make its definition.
Complex art centers can be defined with a mixture of art and space. Complex art centers are locations that can accommodate general art activities. These centers must now play the role of accommodating diverse art programs.
Examples of international complex art centers are The New York Kitchen Theatre, The Guthrie Theatre, and Watermans Art Center. The New York Kitchen Theatre provides diverse art programs which follows the need of novel program planning and community development. The Guthrie Theatre produces its own performances, and provides different types of educational programs. The goal of The Waterman Art Center is to break down walls between genres, and offer opportunities for the community residence to enjoy art programs.
For domestic complex art centers, there is Sejong Center, Goyang SPART Complex & Park, KT&G Sangsangmadang. Sejong Center, is operating different types of art educational programs, and performing art programs. Goyang SPART Complex & Park is the largest complex art center in the Kyunggi Province. KT&G Sangsangmadang presents the slogan of 'a place where artistic imagination is developed and people meet to become happier.'
A complex art center is a place where new performing arts is created. These centers not only provide various cultural necessities, they also have diverse educational programs that meet the needs of citizens. However, we still need more diverse programs in order to keep up with the changing society. Domestic complex art centers are still focused on single genres and need more improvement in quality as well as quantity.
In order to improve these limitations, measures should be taken to create a wide variety of interdisciplinary art, and expand participants, educational materials, and informational skills. In additions, networks must be made to connect program planners, participants, and operators.
A limitation of this thesis is that there is no concrete definition for interdisciplinary art. There is quick need to find a definition for interdisciplinary art. Educational function is one of the most important roles of complex art centers, and thus must be developed.
