The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a career self-efficacy program for middle school students.
The hypotheses of this study were as follows:
First, the career self-efficacy program will enhance middle school students' career self-efficacy.
Second, the career self-efficacy program will enhance 3 sub-factors of career self-efficacy: career choice, problem solving, and career exploration.
The subjects of this study were 24 students attending S middle school in Daegu. These students understood the procedure and goals of training program and their participation was voluntary.
They were organized into 2 groups, an experimental group and a control group, each having 12 students. This program for enhancing career self-efficacy was carried out two or three times a week for 12 sessions(each session lasted for 60 minutes).
The effect of the career self-efficacy program was measured using a rating scale for career self-efficacy that was modified by Lee Sang Min, Nam Sook Kyung, Park Hee Rak, and Kim Dong Hyun(2007).
The rating scale for career self-efficacy in this study consists of 3 sub-factors: career choice, problem solving, and career exploration.
In the data analysis; based on pre-test and post-test, further-test ,ANOVA of SPSS was conducted to measure the effects of the program. A statistical significance level for hypothesis testing was set at .05.
The results of this study were as follows:
First, The career self-efficacy program has a significant effect on the enhancement of middle school students' career self-efficacy.
Second, The career self-efficacy program has a significant effect on the 3 sub-factors of middle school students' career self-efficacy: career choice, problem solving, and career exploration.
Therefore, this study is meaningful in that the career self-efficacy program has been modified, trialled and its effect have been proven.
