전통 조각보의 조형성을 기초로 한 미술 수업 방안 연구 = (A) Study on the Method of Art Instruction Based on the plastic Characters of Traditional "Jogakbo"

It is our current situation that traditional art is not dealt with sufficiently in art educational curriculum. Therefore, the present thesis concerned the educational effects of traditional Jogakbo(patchwork wrapping cloths). As a resource for art education, and proposed a method of instruction utilizing them.
The plastic characters of traditional Jogakbo, that is, the modern-style forms of the faces as well as the harmonious combinations of the colors, are excellent and not inferior to the works of the modern geometric abstract art of today. The educational effects that can be obtained through the art education utilizing the traditional Jogakbo as a resource are as follows:
First, the opportunity will be provided to the students to improve their understanding about our traditional culture, by learning the history, function and plastic characters of traditional Jogakbo. Second, the plastic characters of traditional Jogakbo can be utilized as a resource of basic plastic education. Although having simple shape that learners can easily deal with, yet the Jogakbo is rich in the plastic elements and plastic principles, which makes them suitable for basic plastic education. Third, through the comparison of the traditional Jogakbo with the geometric abstract art, which show universal sense of art regardless of time and plastic, the understanding about the plastic and the abstract art can be extended; while arousing the cultural self-esteem regarding the plastic characters of the Jogakbo, which are of worldwide excellence. Fourth, the instruction about the plastic characters of traditional Jogakbo, with a view of re-interpreting them in modern terms, can improve the artistic eye and the basic plastic ability which are necessary for middle school students.
This thesis was prepared with the intention to promote based on it various researches about the instruction methods, thereby helping the students understand the traditional culture at school as well as resolve their difficulties in expressing through plastics.
