While the press were raising the negative views on the field of engineering, the engineering-avoiding phenomenon among middle and high school students became even more serious and students graduating in engineering field began to evade their further study in postgraduate schools. As a result, research & investigation accomplishments are falling and it has grown as a national problem. Hereupon, this research is to analyze the conditions of the foreign students majoring in Engineering Postgraduate courses in Korea and to find ways to make it better.
For this research I conducted a survey among the foreign students majoring in Engineering Postgraduate courses in KyungHee University, SungKyunKwan University and Hanyang University and I could find out that there are three main problems in their studying life in Korea. English version of SPSSWIN 15.0 was used to handle the collected materials.
Frequency-Analysis method was used to grasp the conditions of the students. I also used the descriptive-statistics method to check if there are differences between students as each of their environments might vary, such as feeling of satisfaction in school and their studying life in Korea, how often they interchange with Korean students, and their aspects of getting a job. After all, I could get the following results.
First, due to the shortage of Korean language skills they are having problems in gathering with Korean students. Second, their interchange frequency with Korean students are low. Hardly anyone visited a Korean home nor has attended any kind of events with Korean students. And third, programs helping graduate students are insufficient.
The ways to improve the problems, found during the analysis, are as follows. First, making more chances for foreign students to learn Korean language. Second, increasing interchanges between foreign and Korean students. Third, expanding opportunities for getting a job. Fourth and for the last, organizing human-network.
