The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between the career factors and professional identity, gender discrimination consciousness, job consciousness of professional sports woman. The subjects of this study were 278 old men and women whom I selected by using the systematic cluster sampling, among the professional sports woman who have located in Seoul and GyeongGi-Do areas and have working in field of sports occupation.
I made the questionnaire of this study by carefully considering the adequacy and availability of the following previous studies: the questions of professional identity which the korean version of Jun(2006) and Cha(2007) professional inventory developed by Hall(1968) and Sniek(1972), the questions of gender discrimination consciousness, which the korean version of Ko(1986) developed by Pringree(1976), and job consciousness which the korean version of Kim(1998) and Jung(2001).
To analyze the collected data, I used Windows SPSS/PC 13.0 Version, statistical techniques employed in the study were Exploratory factor analysis Reliability analysis, One-way analysis of variance, Standard multiple regression analysis, Path analysis. The results are as follows.
Firstly, according to socio-demographic characteristics of professional sports woman, professional identity, gender discrimination consciousness, job consciousness were partially difference.
Secondly, according to career factors of professional sports woman, professional identity were partially difference. In detail, faith to public service were field of sports administration, field of elite sports, field of sports for all in the order of more than field of school sport, autonomy in job were field of sports for all, field of school sport in the order of more than field of sports administration, a sense of mission were field of sports for all more than field of elite sports and field of sports administration, field of school sport more than field of sports administration. utilize of professional organization were field of school sport, field of sports for all, field of elite sports in the order of more than field of sports administration. And faith to autonomy in job were field of sports for all more than field of elite sports, field of sports administration more than field of school sport and field of elite sports.
Moreover, according to employment status, autonomy in job which the subordinate concept of professional identity were position of management more than full employment and underem-ployment, a sense of mission position of management more than full employment, utilize of professional organization were underem-ployment more than full employment, position of management more than full employment and underem-ployment.
Thirdly, according to career factors among the professional sports woman, gender discrimination consciousness were partially difference. In detail, conflict to work-home role and social gender role were field of sports for all more than field of sports administration, and the attitude to gender biased were field of school sport and field of elite sports more than field of sports administration.
Moreover, according to employment status, social gender role more than underem-ployment more than full employment, attitude to gender biased were position of management, underem-ployment in the order of more than full employment.
Fourthly, according to career factors among the professional sports woman, job consciousness were partially difference. In detail, business consciousness were field of sports for all and field of school sport more than field of sports administration, job environment consciousness were field of sports for all more than field of elite sports and sports administration, field of school sport more than field of elite sports and field of sports administration. and field of elite sports more than field of sports administration.
Moreover, according to employment status, business consciousness and job environment consciousness which the subordinate concept of job consciousness were position of management more than full employment.
Fifth, professional identity partially influences on their job consciousness among the professional sports woman. In detail, the higher autonomy in job and a sense of mission which the subordinate concept of professional identity had more business consciousness and job environment consciousness which the subordinate concept of job consciousness.
Sixth, gender discrimination consciousness partially influences on their job consciousness among the professional sports woman. In detail, the higher gender equality in organization which the subordinate concept of gender discrimination consciousness had more business consciousness and job environment consciousness which the subordinate concept of job consciousness.
Finally, the examined the relationship between career factors among the professional sports woman and professional identity, gender discrimination consciousness, job consciousness, career factors and job consciousness, based on the causal model of this study. All the causal paths direct and indirect causal effect of career factors and professional identity, gender discrimination consciousness, job consciousness had the meaningful effects.
