본 연구는 또래 칭찬활동 프로그램이 초등학생의 교우관계와 학급응집성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 서울특별시에 소재한 J초등학교 5학년 2개 학급을 실험집단과 통제집단으로 나누어 실험집단에만 이 프로그램을 처치하고 사후검사와 추후검사를 실시하여 프로그램의 효과를 검증하였다. 프로그램의 타당도를 검증하기 위하여 예비 실시를 통해 미비점이나 문제점으로 나타난 내용을 수정?보완하였다. 연구 결과 또래 칭찬활동 프로그램을 처치한 실험집단은 교우관계와 학급응집성에서 모두 유의미한 효과가 나타났으며, 아동 소감과 연구자의 관찰에서도 이 프로그램을 통해 아동의 교우관계가 개선되고, 학급응집성이 증가한 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 통제집단에서도 학기 초 아동의 학급생활 적응으로 인해 교우관계의 일부 하위변인에서 유의미한 효과가 나타났으며, 추후검사에서 실험집단 아동의 교우관계 하위변인 중 일부에서 효과가 감소한 것이 드러나기도 하였다. 학급응집성은 사후검사보다 추후검사에서 더욱 유의미하게 증가한 점으로 보아 본 연구에서 실시한 또래 칭찬활동 프로그램은 학급응집성의 증가와 지속에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로의 연구에서는 교우관계의 지속 효과를 높이기 위한 프로그램 내용 수정이나 추후지도에 관한 연구가 필요하다고 본다.

The purpose of this research is to investigate how To achieve the purpose, the following two research questions were established.
<Question 1> Will the Peer-Praise Activity program influence the Elementary School Students' Peer-Relationship?
<Question 2> Will the Peer-Praise Activity program influence the Elementary School Students' Class Cohesiveness?
To verify the questions above, 2 Classes from the 5th grade 9 classes of J elementary school in Seoul were selected as subjects. Then, a pre-test measuring the Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness was given to subjects. To validate the program, 2 classes were chosen to take a pre-test which were not involved in control group and experimental group and the test result is analyzed and reconstructed as a program. 33 children(19 males and 14 females) of researcher's Class were placed in experimental group, while other 32 children(18 males and 14 females) who had same quality with the experimental group were place in control group.
The Peer-Praise Activity program which has 9 terms was executed for 3 weeks and each term was continued for 60 minutes. Contrastively, control group had no application of the main program. After the experiment, a post-test was given to verify the effects of the program.
After one month, post-test was conducted to check the effect of durability on program.
In verifying the effects of the program, quantitative analysis using Korean SPSS Win(version 12.0), opinion documents for each term, opinion documents of children after the program, and qualitative analysis of teachers through observation and analysis were used.
The results of quantitative analysis verifying the effects of the program are as follows;
First, compared to control group, experimental group that participated in the Peer-Praise Activity program showed significant improvement(p<.05) in Peer-Relationship and its all sub-factor(Have Friends or not and reliability, Durability of friendship, Adaptation among friends, Communal life with friends).
Second, compared to control group, experimental group that participated in the Peer-Praise Activity program showed significant improvement(p<.05) in Class Cohesiveness and its all sub-factors(Climate, Trust, Morale, Unify, Unity, Communication).
Third, in post-test result, it is known that the effect of Peer-Praise Activity Program is continued in Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness and its all sub-factors except Communal life with friends which is one of the sub-factor in Peer-Relationship.
To supplement the results of quantitative analysis, opinion documents and qualitative analysis were executed. It shows that children had help of having confident school life by improving friendship and having a sense of unity and community spirit.
The results above prove that Peer-Praise Activity Program has a positive effect on the Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness for elementary school students. But it is needed to study long-term conducted program to improve durability effect. And curriculums and subjects which is able to connected with program should be studied. Also, the verification of effects of Peer-Praise Activity Program according to the sex and development of new Peer-Praise Activity Program which is for lower grades students ought to be done in the near future.
