The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between career decision-making efficacy, career-seeking behavior and career decision type based on career counseling of the students of choreography major.
To fulfill this purpose, seven study problems and assumptive methods are set up to conduct the study the following targets and methods to be applied.
First, the subjects of this study were targeted from students of 4-year course of college students of choreography major in Seoul and suburban areas and 600 students were selected by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling upon their economic conditions and residential environment but the data of 527 students were used.
Personal Characteristics controlled by this study are such variables as gender, year, major type and performance score, and independent variables were career counseling which were limited such as absence of career counseling, its frequency and type, and career decision-making efficacy as parameter I and career-seeking behavior as parameter II and career decision type as dependent variable.
The questionaries were used as tools to analyze the relation the relation between career decision-making efficacy, career-seeking behavior and career decision type based on career counseling of the students of choreography major.
CDMSES-SF(Betz, Klein & Taylor, 1996), contraction form of the questionaries developed by Tayloer and Betz, the ones developed by Seo Jinsook(1998) and Kidney(1992) and Assessment of Career Decision Making(ACDM) by Harren(1979) were respectively used for career decision-making self-efficacy.
The followings are the findings from the this study through the above method and process applied.
1. Partial differences be shown in demographic personal characteristics set up by background variables in this study between each group of career decision-making efficacy, career-seeking behavior and career decision type. Especially, male groups showed higher by variables than the female ones in gender, and low grader showed higher than high graders in year.
2. Some partial differences were shown in career decision-making efficacy according to the career counseling of the students of choreography major. That is, groups under choice of career counseling showed higher self-evaluation, gathering of vocational information, goal setup, future plan and problem-solving. Meanwhile, in counseling frequency, the group of once-a-month counseling showed higher in self-evaluation, gathering of vocational information, goal setup, future plan and problem-solving.
3. Some partial differences were shown in career-seeking behavior based on the career counseling of the dance major students. That is, groups under choice of career counseling showed higher seeking behavior in career and themselves compared to groups of counseling from the old members. Meanwhile the group of once-a-month counseling showed higher in its frequency.
4. Some partial differences were shown in career decision type based on the career counseling of the dance major students. That is, groups under choice of career counseling showed higher in intuitive and reasonable type, and in counseling type group of senior students and professor showed higher and group of once-a-month counseling showed the same in its frequency.
5. Some partial effects were shown in career decision type based on the career decision-making efficacy of the dance major students. That is, career decision-making efficacy accounts for 33.3% of the whole parameter describing intuitive type as sub parameter of career decision type, and reasonable type 6.1%, and dependent type 25.9% respectively.
6. Some partial effects were shown in career decision type based on the career-seeking behavior of the dance major students. That is, career-seeking behavior accounts for 35.1% of the whole parameter describing intuitive type as sub parameter of career decision type, and reasonable type 14.8%, and dependent type 19.3% respectively.
7. The cause-effect relation were shown in career decision-making efficacy, career-seeking behavior and career decision type of the dance major students.
