노인의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 : 독거노인과 동거노인을 중심으로 = Study on factors that influence the old to think suicide -Focused on the solitude old and the cohabited old -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ageing society will be accelerating. And neglected old people will increase. This current of the times makes suicide of the old a potential social issue not a passing by event. This study is to analyze the factors related to the suicide urge of the old, and examine preexisting studies about suicide urge related to general characteristics of the old like sex, age, living area, educational background, religion, marital condition, economic condition, solitude or cohabitation, and children's visit, to find out that whether private depressed condition, exterior social support, mental and social isolation, satisfaction of living influence to suicide urge. The cohabited old and the solitude old were separatedly analyzed, and the research objects were 239 cohabited old and solitude old over 60 years. Collected data was analyzed by SPSS-WIN 12.0 statistical method.

First, economic, social, environmental depression influenced directly to the suicide urge. Also, mental and social solitude except satisfaction of living influenced to suicide urge.
Second, whether living alone or not like independence or death of children, divorce or death of the spouse, influenced to the factors of suicide urge of the old. According to solitude or not, the solitude old showed comparatively high or low in all areas (mental and social isolation, social support, satisfaction of living, suicide urge) compared to the cohabited old. It meaned that the solitude old had lack of social relation and social support and when these become sufficient, the suicide urge will be diminished. Social support network begins with relation with family, friends, and neighbors. And the old who are in lack of these relations think much of suicide by isolation, depression, lack of social support. Finally the possibility of suicide becomes high. Specially, rural district has few social relation ship in psychological or social point of view and lack of access in geographical and cultural conditions. So social support network is very little and possibility of suicide is high. So there should be comprehensive policy for them.
