This study is a basic study that was carried out to provide high quality after-school programs that need to be improved in quantity and quality. Using questionnaires, the study examined recognition and demands of parents who receive after-school program service from daycare centers and community children centers and analyzed their satisfaction in order to search for plans to promote more realistic and effective after-school programs.
The study results show that most of the parents demand a help with homework and learning guidance as program contents of daycare centers and community children centers, and the parents of daycare centers through of the special education important, showing a big difference from the parents of community children centers. A lot of the parents pointed out the community children center as the most appropriate organization for the after-school programs, and preferred professional after-school instructors as the instructor of the programs. The parents had different demands for days and hours of the program by the organization and many of the parents wanted support from the government for the program expenses and felt a heavy burden due to the expensive private education.
In the questions that ask the parents' satisfaction with the after-school programs, the parents of the two organizations showed different responses in all questions. After comparing the parents' satisfaction with the programs of the two organizations, the study found out that the parents of the community children center had higher satisfaction than the parents of the daycare centers and this difference was especially high in the cost for the program. The satisfaction with the consultation with the instructor was low in both organizations.
The followings are the political suggestions made based on the study results.
First, there needs to be financial support in order to promote the after-school programs.
Second, the after-school program instructors should be equipped with professional skills in order to enable better consultation with the parents.
Third, more effort should be put in to development of various after-school programs.
Fourth, the effectiveness of the after-school program should be improved through diversification of grades, hours and areas.
Fifth, there should be positive application of human resources of the local society.
Sixth, there need to be mutual exchange, cooperation and promotion of the after-school program in order to place it as a nurture system of the local society.
