에어브러시를 이용한 바디아트 표현의 실제 = A Study on the Body Art Expressions with Air Brush

Each century's culture and history originate from the past, and does the history of air brush co-exist with us for a long period of time. Even with this long history of air brush, Korean history of air brush is very short.
Even now, there still is not enough acknowledgement of air brush. However, constant exposure of adjustment in pictures and advertisement in modern arts with air brush give positive effect. Recently, it is often used in makeup artistry and body art.
This constant usage of air brush in various fields should define the meaning of air brush. It is essential for an beauty artistry scholar to study in depth of this true meaning.
Air brush is the unique artistry of splashing air and color by holding it like a fountain pen. It is differentiated from painting and water color design by controlling the amount of air and spread of color.
The history of Korean air brush began in late 1960's by re-working on magazine advertisement and it was developed and widely used starting from 1970's to 1980's in modern painting and graphic illustration. Later, air brush was improved to give precise and concise end results to realistic artistry work by many professional artists' constant technique improvement effort.
These days, air brush gained a new definition being used often by professional makeup artists on body art. Body art is direct and physical. Air brush the shades to put life on body to give breath and uniqueness of the artist. The body art gives different meaning of language by expressing the unspoken word of the spoken language without words being direct and physical. It reflects whole different meaning to viewers and it is the rights of the artist and viewers, and also the limitation of this society.
The most crucial point of a piece of art is "How Do We Convey the Intention?". Body art not just a piece of work, but a performance. It is also important to understand the purpose in expressions of body art and to develop the expression skill and taste. This kind of art related artistry needs a unique technique. This study will focus on the usage of air brush in body art and the analysis and usage of various fields of air brush in practicality, principle, skill and technique.
In conclusion, the logical analysis of uniqueness in air brush used in constructive and concise study can prosper body art and beauty makeup artistry. It can also diversify the development of materials for air brush and broaden the field of body art.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘에어브러시(air brush)’는 압축한 공기를 이용하여 물감을 강하게 분사하는 붓을 대신하는 도구를 말한다. 에어브러시는 화면도색, 섬세한 선의 표현, 면의 그라데이션(gradation, 濃淡) 등의 표현에 쓰이며, 일반 붓의 사용에서 생기는 얼룩(touch)이 만들지 않고 부드러운 음영과 투명감 있는 색조를 만들어 낼 수 있는 화법(畵法)을 발휘할 수 있기 때문에 향후 더 다양한 분야의 활용이 예측되고 있다.
현재 에어브러시는 그래픽디자인, 일러스트레이션, 현대회화 등과 아울러 헤어, 메이크업, 바디페인팅, 네일아트 등 미용산업계와 예술계에서 동시에 그 중요성이 인시되고 있다. 특히 최근에는 많은 아티스트들이 자신의 작품의 독창성을 살리기 위해 에어브러시를 사용하고 있으며, 미용예술을 전공하는 모든 이들은 이 기구에 중요성을 공감하고 있어 다방면에서의 그 이용이 증대되고 있는 실정이다.
따라서 향후 세계적인 추세에 발맞추어 에어브러시를 활용한 예술의 영역을 확대하고, 또한 고화질 텔레비전방송시대를 맞이하여 사회전반에 에어브러시를 통한 섬세하고 효과적인 작품연출을 위해서는 우리나라의 에어브러시예술의 현재를 고찰하고, 그를 토대로 앞으로 발전시켜 나갈 방향을 모색할 필요가 절실하다. 왜냐하면 미래에는 에어브러시 분야는 무한한 발전과 작품 세계의 변화가 올 것이기 때문이다.
신체예술로서의 바디아트는 정지되어 있는 예술품보다 생동적이고 다차원적인 효과를 얻을 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 사실적 작품에서 실험적 작품까지 다양한 변화를 줄 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 현대사회에 있어서 바디아트는 무대, 조명, 음악, 의상과 조화를 이루는 하나의 예술 장르로 정착하기에 이르렀다. 바디아트는 예술의 한 장르로서 독특한 개성과 표현형식으로 자리를 잡아가고 있는 것이다. 표현의 방법에서도 나름대로의 오브제의 사용, 과거표현기법의 재창조, 새로운 장식요소들의 과감한 채용 등으로 표현성이 확대 되고 있는 중이다.
현대의 미술에서는 신체를 새로운 오브제로 사용하고 있는 경향이 있으며, 철학에서도 신체가 미학적 화두로 자리 잡아 가고 있으며, 미술과 분장분야가 서로 상대적으로 수렴하려는 경향을 띠고 있는데, 이는 사회경제적인 이유 이외에도 객관성과 주관성이 한데 통합되어 있는 상호주관성의 기반인 몸에 그 근원적인 원인이 있다. 이러한 몸을 그대로 이용하고 있는 바디아트는 미학적, 철학적으로 매우 가치가 있다.
이 논문의 목적은 현재 우리나라에서 이용되고 있는 에어브러시의 이론적 고찰을 토대로 에어브러시를 이용한 예술의 한 형태인 바디아트의 살펴보고, 새로운 조형예술 분야로 부각되고 있는 바디아트 표현의 실제를 제시하는데 있다. 이를 통해 향후 에어브러시를 이용한 바디아트의 영역이 확대되고, 좀 더 체계화, 세분화, 전문화된 기법의 연구가 지속적으로 진행되는 계기를 제공하며, 궁극적으로 에어브러시를 이용한 바디아트가 예술의 한 영역으로서의 정립되는데 일익을 담당하고자 한다.
이 논문의 범위는 에어브러시와 바디아트의 이론을 토대로 바디아트의 작업에 사용되는 기법 중 에어브러시의 표현의 실제를 제시하는데 국한한다. 또한 여러 가지의 에어브러시를 이용한 바디아트의 표현의 실제에서 그래픽적 표현, 회화적 표현, 형광물감과 블랙라이트의 사용 표현, 타투(tattoo, 문신)의 표현 등 4가지로 국한한다.
이 연구의 방법은 국내외 전문서적, 선행논문, 인터넷사이트 등을 참고 하였으며, 에어브러시 표현의 방법은 연구자가 현재까지의 이론을 바탕으로 현장의 작업과정에서 터득한 실제경험을 중심으로 제시한다.
