Penrose tiling의 성질과 그 구성에 대한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 비주기 타일링의 대표적 예인 Penrose tiling의 성질과 그 구성에 대한 연구를 목적으로 한다.
첫째, 정다각형의 타일링을 비롯하여 타일링의 기본개념인 변환과 대칭성, 주기적 타일링, 비주기적 타일링에 대해 살펴보았다.
둘째, 비주기적 타일링의 대표적 예인 Penrose tiling의 타일 집합의 종류와 각각의 맞춤조건을 알아보고 맞춤조건에 따른 실재 타일링 패턴들을 살펴보았다.
셋째, 연과 표창의 타일링과 마름모들의 타일링 각각에서 deflation이라는 구성과정을 통해 드러나는 성질을 살펴보았다.
넷째, Penrose tiling의 이해를 돕기 위해서 Penrose tiling을 구현하는 프로그램들 중 Java Applet과 FRACTINT의 윈도우용인 Winf 18.21을 이용하여 Penrose tiling을 구현하는 방법을 소개하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is to introduce how to construct three types of Penrose tiling and properties of them. Penrose tiling which underlies many examples of medieval Islamic art is a prime example of aperiodic tiling of a plane.
In this paper, we first reviewed the general concepts of tiling as tiling using regular polygons, transformations, symmetry, periodic tiling and non-periodic tiling.
Second, we studied three types of Penrose tiling and matching rules for each of them and then, investigated the patterns arranged by matching rules.
Third, we studied the deflation algorithm relying on the matching rule and some properties of Penrose tiling
Besides, we showed how to draw the Penrose tiling using the java applet and winf 18.21.
