결혼이주여성의 가정폭력과 정신건강 : 스트레스와 우울을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 결혼하여 한국에 사는 결혼이주여성들이 가정폭력으로 인하여 발생하는 정신 건강 문제 중에 스트레스와 우울을 중심으로, 정신건강에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 실태를 파악하고, 분석하여 결혼이주여성들의 보다 나은 삶을 추구하는데 그 목적이 있다.연구대상은 2007년 9월 인천지역에 살며 인천광역시여성문화회관에 다니는 결혼이주여성을 10명 무작위 선정하여 1차 설문을 받아 분석하였으며 10월에는 여성문화회관과 인천광역시 복지관에 다니는 여성 104명을 한국어, 영어, 중국어, 베트남어로 번역하여 그 중 사용하기 어려운 불성실한 설문지 4부를 제외한 100부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다.본 연구를 다음 같이 요약해 보았다.첫째 전체폭력 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스 차이 검증에서는 스트레스나 우울을 보았을 때 가정폭력을 경험한 여성이 높은 수준의 스트레스와 우울을 경험하고 있다.둘째 언어폭력에 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스의 차이 검증에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보인다. 언어폭력 유무에 따라 우울 및 스트레스 수준이 달라질 수 있다.셋째 신체폭력 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스 차이 검증에서는 신체폭력을 경험하는 여성이 우울과 스트레스가 서로 다른 유의성을 보여주어 신체적 폭력 경험 유무는 여성의 우울 수준에 보다 관련이 있는 것으로 파악할 수 있다.넷째 경제적 폭력 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스 차이 검증에서는 이주여성의 정신건강에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다.다섯째 사회적 고립 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스의 차이 검증에서는 우울보다는 스트레스수준에서 보다 큰 차이가 나타난다.여섯째 성폭력 유무에 따른 우울 및 스트레스 차이 검증에서는 스트레스의 경우 유의미한 차이를 보여주었으나 표본의 차이가 심하여 신뢰가 어렵다.이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 사회복지의 실천적 제언은 다음과 같다.첫째 이주결혼여성의 사회복지 실천적 서비스 확대기존의 연구들이 우리나라 여성에만 중점을 두고 연구해왔으나 이주결혼여성들의 정신건강에 미치는 초점을 두고 가족관계, 부부갈등, 부부폭력과 스트레스와 우울에 미치는 영향을 본 연구는 초점을 두고 연구 하였다. 부부폭력이라는 새로운 변인을 발굴하여 소외되어 있는 이주결혼여성 더 나가 이주노동자 전반에 걸친 사회복지실천 서비스 영역이 확대되어 나가야 한다고 본다.둘째 지역확대 도시보다는 농촌에 많은 이주여성들이 있으나 본 연구는 도심(인천)지역으로 만 국한되었던 점이 아쉬웠다. 앞으로 많은 사회적 이슈와 이주결혼 여성들 자녀의 저변확대로 인한 도시농촌간 불균형에 사회복지서비스의 확대를 위해 시간을 둔 충분한 농촌 지역을 연구가 요구된다.셋째 스트레스와 우울해소를 위한 프로그램 개발은 균형적인 전문성이 요구되며 정신건강을 위한 순기능적인 역할을 할 수 있는 프로그램 개발이 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to survey and analyze the effects of home violence suffered by the women immigrated to Korea for marriage, focusing on their mental health involving stress and depression and thereby, suggest the ways for them to live a better life in Korea.For this purpose, the researcher randomly sampled 10 immigrant women attending the Municipal Women's Culture Center in Incheon metropolitan city as of September, 2007 for a questionnaire survey, and analyzed the results of the survey preliminarily. Then, the researcher designed a questionnaire and had it translated into English, Chinese and Vietnamese. Thus, 4 versions of questionnaire in Korean, English, Chinese and Vietnamese were distributed to 104 immigrant women attending the same culture center. 100 responses excluding 4 ones deemed not serious were used for the final analysis.The results of this study can be summarized as follows;First, as a result of analyzing the effects of home violence on subjects' depression and stress, it was found that those women who had experienced home violence were more depressed and stressed.Second, differences of depression and stress levels depending on experience of linguistic violence were statistically significant. Namely, those women who had suffered from linguistic violence at home were more depressed and stressed.Third, as a consequence of testing the differences of depression and stress depending on experiences of physical violence at home, physical violence was found to be more correlated with depression than stress. Namely, those women who had experienced physical violence at home were suffering more from depression.Fourth, as a result of testing the differences of depression and stress depending on financial violence at home, it was found that the financial violence at home influenced subjects' mental health negatively.Fifth, as a result of testing the differences of depression and stress depending on social isolation, it was found that the social isolation affected stress level more than depression.Sixth, as a consequence of testing the differences of depression and stress depending on sexual violence at home, only stress level was found to differ significantly depending on sexual violence, but the variances were too wide to be reliable.Based on the above findings, the practical suggestions for immigrated women for marriage were put forwards as follows;First, it is necessary to expand effective social welfare services for them. While preceding studies focused primarily on the Korean women, this study targeted the foreign immigrant women to analyze the effects of their family relationship, marriage conflicts and violence on their stress and depression. As the findings of this study suggest, it is deemed necessary to expand the overall practical social services for them and other foreign immigrant workers alienated in our society.Second, it is necessary to expand the scope of study in terms of region. Since there are also many foreign immigrant women in the rural areas, it was a regret that this study was limited to a city (Incheon). As the base for foreign immigrant women married to Korean men expands further in the future, raising a social issue, it is required of future studies to find the ways to expand the social welfare services for them in view of balance between urban and rural areas.Third, it is essential to develop professional programs relieving the foreign immigrant women of stress and depression as well as helping them to improve their mental health.
