환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램이 유아의 친환경적 태도 형성에 미치는 효과

This research examines the effects of an environmental education program using environmental picture books on forming environmentally friendly attitudes of kindergarteners. It was implemented with 56 five-year-old children in D city. The experimental group, which participated in an environmental education program using environmental picture books, was compared to a control group which did not have any environmental education program. To find out the effects of forming environmentally friendly attitudes, CATES-PV (The Children's Attitudes Toward the Environment Scale-Preschool Version) as a research tool which Musser and Diamond (1999) made and Lee, Gyu-Jin (2006) modified was revised according to the purpose and contents of this research. This tool is designed to measure two subordinate factors, which are nature friendly attitude and environment preservation attitude.
This research progressed in the order of pilot study, pre-test, experimental treatment and post-test. For the experimental program continued for 8 weeks, the children were read- aloud the books twice per week. After the read-aloud activity, physical expression activities, games, play activities, modeling activities, and science activities as far extended activities. To identify if there was a significant difference between groups after the experiment, the average and standard deviation of the children‘s attitude toward environment were calculated. Then, ANCOVA was utilized by putting pre-scores of two groups as covariate and post-scores of two groups as dependent variables.
The results from this study are as follow.
First, the environmental education program using environmental picture books was effective in forming environmentally friendly attitudes of young children.
Second, the environmental education program using environmental picture books was effective in forming nature friendly attitudes.
Third, the environmental education program using environmental picture books was effective in forming environment preservation attitudes.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램이 유아의 친환경적 태도 형성에 영향을 미치는 지를 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구는 D시의 만 5세 유아 56명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 실시하는 집단을 실험집단으로 하여, 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램을 전혀 실시하지 않는 통제집단과 비교하였다. 유아의 친환경적 태도 형성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 알아보기 위해 사용한 연구도구는 Musser와 Diamond(1999)가 제작한 CATES-PV(The Children's Attitudes Toward the Environment Scale-Preschool Version)를 이규진(2006)이 수정 보완하여 사용한 것을 본 연구자가 연구의 목적과 내용에 맞게 일부 수정 보완하여 사용하였다. 이 검사는 두개의 하위요소, 즉 자연 친화적 태도와 환경 보전 태도를 측정하도록 되어있다.
본 연구는 예비연구, 사전검사, 실험처치, 사후검사의 순으로 진행되었으며 실험처치는 8주간에 걸쳐 주 2회 환경 동화를 감상하면서 후속적으로 이에 근거한 신체표현 활동, 게임, 극 놀이 활동, 조형 활동, 과학 활동 등 16회의 환경교육 프로그램 활동을 실시하였다. 실험실시 후 두 집단 간의 평균차이가 유의한 지 알아보기 위해 평균과 표준편차 산출 후 실험집단과 통제집단의 사전점수를 공변인으로 하고 사후점수를 종속변인으로 한 공변량 분석을 실시하였다.
본 연구에서 나타난 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램 활동은 유아의 친환경적 태도 형성에 효과가 있었다.
둘째, 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램 활동은 친환경적 태도의 하위요소인 자연 친화적 태도 형성에 효과가 있었다.
셋째, 환경 동화를 활용한 환경교육 프로그램 활동은 친환경적 태도의 하위요소인 환경 보전 태도 형성에 효과가 있었다.
