조손가족의 손자녀가 지각하는 조부모와의 관계와 자아존중감

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 조손가족에서 양육되는 손자녀가 지각하는 조부모와의 관계와 자아존중감에 대해 알아보고, 손자녀가 지각하는 조부모와의 관계와 자아존중감의 관계를 연구하였다..
연구의 대상은 부모의 부재로 인해 조부모가 일차적으로 양육의 책임을 맡고 있는 조손가족의 손자녀로 서울특별시, 부산광역시, 대구광역시, 마산시, 창원시, 경북(성주군), 경남(거창군, 합천군, 고성군)에 거주하는 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 아동이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 통계프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 빈도, 백분율, 평균, 표준편차, t검증, 일원배치분석, Pearson의 이변량상관 분석을 이용하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 조부모의 관계 척도는 부모-자녀 대한 Furman(1985)의 Network of Relationship Inventory(NRI)를 한종혜가 번안한 것을 본 연구자가 조부모-손자녀 관계에 맞게 수정하여 사용하였다. 자아존중감 검사지는 Coopersmith가 제작한 Self-Esteem(SEL)척도 기초로 하고, 최보가와 전귀연(1993)이 개발한 척도를 송화영(2004)가 수정, 보완한 것을 본 연구자가 재구성하여 사용하였다.
본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 조손가족의 손자녀가 지각하는 조부모와의 관계에서 사회적지지, 처벌/주도권과 친밀, 우의 등은 중간 정도수준으로 나타났고, 대립 수준은 높았다. 이는 손자녀와 조부모간의 관계가 그다지 긍정적이지 않다는 것을 의미한다. 조손가족의 환경적 특성에 따른 조부모와의 관계에 있어서는 조모의 건강이 조부모의 관계와 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 친구 수, 학교생활만족도, 그리고 또래지지, 교사지지, 학교생활 적응과도 손자녀의 조부모와의 관계와 유의미한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 조손가족 손자녀의 자아존중감의 수준은 일반자아존중감, 가정자아존중감, 학교자아존중감, 사회자아존중감, 자아존중감 전체 모두가 낮은 편이었다. 조손가족 손자녀의 환경적 특성에 따른 자아존중감의 차이에 있어서는 성적, 친구의 수, 학교생활만족도가 자아존중감과 유의미한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 손자녀의 조부모와의 관계와 자아존중감 간의 관계를 분석한 결과, 일반자아존중감과 가정자아존중감, 사회자아존중감, 그리고 자아존중감 전체 모두가 높은 수준이었다. 그러나 조부모와의 관계가 학교자아존중감과는 유의미한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 이것은 대체로 조부모와의 관계가 좋을수록 자아존중감 수준이 높게 나타났다 것을 알 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study researched relationships with grandparents and self-esteem that grandchildren in grandparent-grandchild families perceive, as well as the interrelationships between relationships with grandparents and self-esteem.
Elementary school grade 4, 5, and 6 children in grandparent-grandchild families whose grandparents are preferentially responsible for their rearing because of absence of parents residingin Seoul-si, Busan-si, Daegu-si, Masan-si, Changwon-si, Kyungbuk(Seongju-gun), Kyungnam(Geochang-gun, Hapcheon-gun, Goseong-gun)participated in the survey. Collected data was analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 statistical program and frequency, percentage, the standard deviation, T verification, One-way ANOVA(Analysis of Variance), and Pearson’s correlation were used. For the study, Furman’s Network of Relationship Inventory(NRI)(1985) dealingwith parent-child relationships adapted by Han Jong-Hye was revised to adjust to grandparent-grandchild relationships, and the grandparent-grandchild relationship scale from it was applied to this research. On the basis of Coopersmith’s Self-Esteem(SEL) scale, Song Hwa-Yeong’s scale(2004), which was revised and made up for the scale developed by Choi Bo-Ga and Jeon Gyi-Yeon(1993), was used in the self-esteem examination sheet.
The following summarizes the results of the study.
First, while the degree of social support, punishment/dominance, sympathy, intimacy which grandchildren in grandparent-grandchild families perceive in relationships with grandparents was medium, the degree of opposition was high. It means relationships between grandchildren and grandparents are not so affirmative. An environmental factor which had an effect on relationships with grandparents in grandparent-grandchild families was health of grandparents. Moreover, there were meaningful differences in relationships with grandparents according to the number of friends, satisfaction ofschool life, peer-support, teacher-support, and school adjustment.
Second, grandchildren in grandparent-grandchild families showed low levels in general self-esteem, self-esteem at home, self-esteem at school, social self-esteem, and self-esteem. For environmental factors which had an effect on relationships with grandparents in grandparent-grandchild families, there were school record, the number of friends, and satisfaction with school life, all of which had an effect on grandchildren’s self-esteem.
Third, as a result of analysis of correlation between grandchildren’s relationships with grandparents and self-esteem, while both have close interrelationships in general with self-esteem, self-esteem at home, social self-esteem, and self-esteem, they didn’t in self-esteem at school. It indicates that generally as relationshipswith grandparents are better, the level of self-esteem becomes higher.
