The birth of arts begins to develop from the surrounding environment that is commonplace and ordinary in everyday life. However, people in their everyday life are likely to pass over most events or feelings, emotion, and situations that are likely to disappear in our memory since they are so tiny and delicate. People want to keep such moments in mind for a long time, but they are easy to slip out of our mind as water flows, so they just disappear in a moment someday unless people specially make a record.
Although logically explaining such phenomenon in daily life is not possible, this study attempts to capture an object that is likely to disappear and provoke the secondary ‘Punctum’ that is similar to ‘Punctum’ by Roland Barthes in order to mean ‘instantly coming wounds and attraction’ when people see a photo. To do so, this study made a record of an image provoking a similar ‘Punctum’ response through a photographing medium and revealed it through transcription, line drawing, and coloring in oil colors that have the one-time and accidental characteristics meaning impossible to be repeated. Although they start from individual attraction, they are ‘Traces’-images existing at the passage of time between the past and the present. In other words, they are not new creatures and exist in our daily life all the time but people have overlooked them.
This ‘Trace'-image is an event coming together with the present, but it does not mean the existing situation and, sometimes, because it is too tiny and trivial it can be easily passed by as it is hided by other things. However, it gives us a trace 'existence of absence', the place where an object left, which is neither existence nor absence generated from the continuance of time meaning that it still exist somewhere even though it seems to disappear as the present is not able to exist without existence of the past.
The image 'Trace' used in this study reveals 'existence of absence' which is the common characteristics between 'Trace' and 'Photograph' by combining with time-variant meaning 'exist there-demonstration of the present' and ‘there is not now-demonstration of the absence' in photograph. Even though a trace disappears, it still exists in some objects as a type of mark thanks to the continuance of time. That is, such trace has perpetuity by being recorded in photographic paper or digital data, but it is more emphasized through being expressed by the one-time transcription technique and a photo having a message meaning ‘demonstration of absence’ and 'demonstration of the present' and, eventually, 'Remember the death' of 'Memento-mori'. That is, 'Invisible-Time' used as a exhibition subject is a trace of object's absence remained in the passage of time and, at the same time, it is invisible time keeping death's shadow in the in most recesses of itself all the time.
As such echo starts from individual attraction in everyday life, it gives people a message to ponder over the death through a trace of absence even though there is some difference by individuals. Features of life would show itself more clearly with understanding and regrets of it. Furthermore, a meaning of life also would be more obviously embossed within the circumference of death. In addition to that, everything including a trivial thing that people have overlooked would come to us more preciously.
This study could not reach the complete point due to insufficient recognition and experience of life and art, but it was able to expect a desire for a sound life which is better than the present by looking back to the past through reconsidering 'time' that has been understood transcendentally in a photo and looking at scattered images in everyday life with such recognition.
