Voluntary activities are important civil activities that form the root and the trunk of a welfare society and are becoming an important event in the modern society. The youth voluntary activities improve the ills of teenagers who suffer from the exam-centered education and develop healthy humanity and community spirit of teenagers. The youth voluntary activities were institutionalized to the effect of establishment of challenge for new experience and task, achievement, self-confidence, positive self-image, the dignity of man, social solidarity, enhancement of community spirit and learning of new techniques. However, it has become a formal activity that needs to be done for the grade, and schools have poor education for the voluntary activities, and there are not sufficient places and programs for the voluntary activities so they are becoming formal and labor-centered voluntary activities. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to explore factors that can extend the opportunity to choose a voluntary activity that considers the aptitudinal and the special talents of each individual.
Therefore, the study examined the effects of the youth voluntary activities that apply special and aptitudinal talents of adolescents on their satisfaction and find out the positive factors in order to promote spontaneous and continuous youth voluntary activities.
In order to study the effects of the youth voluntary activities that apply special and aptitudinal talents of adolescents on their satisfaction, the study categorized the factors that influence the satisfaction of the youth voluntary activities into individual factors, family factors, school factors, promotion of special talent·aptitude education and so on. 4 middle schools and 4 high schools out of 7 cities(Gongju, Nonsan, Dangjin, Boryeong, Seosan, Cheonah, Cheongyang) were selected and total of 300 questionnaires related to the special and aptitudinal talents were distributed to the students. 295 copies were collected and 279 of them were used in the fact-finding research excluding the 16 ineffective ones.
Through the survey, the following results could be obtained.
The study verified difference in satisfaction of the voluntary activities that apply special and aptitudinal talents after categorizing the influences into individual factors, family factors, school factors and special talent·aptitude factors. The results are as follows.
First, as for the individual factors, when their recognition on the voluntary activities were positive, their satisfaction with the activities were higher.
Second, their satisfaction with the voluntary activities increased as their parents had more participating experience in voluntary activities and showed more interests and supports.
Third, it showed that when the school provides more education and information, the adolescents showed higher satisfaction. Therefore, it is necessary for the schools to provide a variety of education and information.
Fourth, as for the special talent·aptitude factors, the satisfaction of the voluntary activities showed a significant difference according to participated area of the activities, continuance, participating attitude and participation time. In order to improve their satisfaction, the schools should provide education and extend the opportunity to choose a voluntary activity that consider desire, special talents and aptitude of each individual.
Lastly, the study looked into the relative influences among the factors and the results are as follows.
It can be known that positive recognition of the adolescents on the voluntary activities increase their satisfaction with the activities, and the satisfaction of music-related activities and Foot Massage field is higher than other special talents and aptitude, and this tells the interest and instruction level of teachers at the school. Also, when the schools provide a lot of education and information on the voluntary activities, and when the parents have better interest in and support for voluntary activities of their children, and when the adolescents perform the voluntary activities actively and have more participation time, the adolescents show higher satisfaction with the voluntary activities.
Based on the study results, a few suggestions are made to promote the youth voluntary activities.
first, it is necessary to strengthen the adolescents' recognition and motivation on the voluntary activities through systematic and constant education.
Second, there should be diversified effort and network of children, parents, teachers and relevant organizations.
Third, there should be a connection and a guideline in order to apply the adolescents' special and aptitudinal talents to the voluntary activities.
The study investigated the factors that influence adolescents satisfaction with the voluntary activities that apply special and aptitudinal talents of the adolescents so it could not consider the satisfaction of ordinary teenagers and satisfaction with the beneficiary organizations of the voluntary activities. When there are studies on these matters in the future, they will be a great help for the promotion of youth voluntary activities.
