- The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among adolescents perceived interparental conflict as a family factor which is stressful environment, ego-resilience as a personal factor, and school adjustment as a social factor and to see which provided better explanation of middle school students school adjustment between perceived interparental conflict and ego-resilience, both of which were found to be related to school adjustment of middle school students by prior studies.
- For this study, the sample selected 552 adolescents of several middle schools in Seoul. They were administered self reported questionnaire such as the Children? Perception of Interparental Conflict scale(CPIC), the Ego-Resilience scale, the School Adjustment scale. Statistical methods applied were correlation, t-test, multiple regression analysis(stepwise).
- The results of this study are as follows;
- First, there was negative correlation between the adolescents perceived interparental conflicts and ego-resilience. And there was a significant difference in the degree of ego-resilience by adolescents perceived interparental conflicts.
- Second, there was negative correlation between the adolescents perceived interparental conflicts and the school adjustment. And there was a significant difference in the degree of the school adjustment by adolescents perceived interparental conflicts. Conflict properties may make the greatest contribution to the school adjustment among sub-factors of perceived interparental conflicts.
