The purpose of this study is to inquire into the relations between children's temperament & language ability and their adjustment to early childhood institutions among children of international marriage immigrant, thereby providing the basic material to help them better adjust to early childhood institutions. The questions picked up to achieve such the purpose are as follows. 1. How are children's temperament, language ability & the general tendency of their adjusting themselves to the early childhood institutions? 2. How is the relations between children's temperament and their adjustment to early childhood institutions? 3. How is the relations between children's language ability and their adjustment to early childhood institutions? The object of this study includes international marriage immigrant's children, 51 persons of 3, 4, and 5-aged children, who attend at the kindergartens and children-care centers in Busan. This study used Teacher Temperament Questionnaire developed by Thoman Chess and Korn(1977) for the purpose of estimating children's temperament and used test instrument, modifying & supplementing based upon it, made by Jang, Yeongae(1981) for measuring their language ability. And The Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire developed by Jewsuwan and Luster, Rostelink(1992) was used for measuring the degree of their adjusting themselves in early childhood institutions and it was evaluated by the teachers who take charge of children in early childhood institution. For examining the subject's general characteristics and disposition, language ability & degree of their adjustment, frequency, percentage(%), average & the standard deviation, etc. were calculated. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis was calculated in order to check the correlation between children's temperament, language ability and their adjustment to early childhood institutions. The principal result of this study is summarized as follows. First, temperament of the international marriage immigrant's children under this research appeared to be affirmative in their mind and high adaptive, but reaction for acceptance and reluctance to be low. Their language ability appeared in order of vocabulary, expression and comprehension and, when comparing this with the common children of the same age, they weren't behind in their language ability but showed the similar degree. In addition, as far as their adjustment to early childhood institutions is concerned, their adjustment to the daily work of early childhood institutions was highest, which is suggestive that the international marriage immigrant's children figure out and well give in to the general daily work of early childhood institutions and, when comparing with the common children, that they are similarly well adjusting themselves to the said institutions. Second, there was significant positive correlation between children's temperament and their adjustment to early childhood institutions that approach avoidance & adjustment and mood of the sub-factors of temperament are the variables which are high related with their adjustment to early childhood institutions. Third, there was no significant correlation between children's language ability and their adaptation to early childhood institutions, but their linguistic comprehension showed significant correlation with their pro-sociality in early childhood institutions.
