The purpose of this study is to understand the level of daily stress of university students, verify stress factors that influence their self-actualization tendency, and to evaluate the relative influence of stress on self-actualization tendency.
The subjects of this study were 348 students enrolled in K University in the Chungnam region. “Revised Daily Stress Indicator for University Students” and “Self Actualization Scale” were used as tools of study. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis, and their results are as follows.
First, university student faced a higher level of stress when faced with urgent problems than they did in personal relationships. Specifically, they displayed the greatest amount of stress towards their future. Second, self-actualization tendency decreased with increase in the level of daily stress. Third, stress from perception of value was found to be a variable that forecasts self-actualization tendency.
Conclusively, with stress from perception of value being a variable that forecasts self actualization tendency, it was found that the higher the level of stress from perception of value, the lower is the tendency for self actualization.
