Profound or severe hearing impairments in young children often result in poor speech perception and production skills. Profoundly hearing impaired children was usually unable to benefit from hearing aids. But after cochlear implantation, they show significant improvements in both speech perception and production following implantation. To increase of language art for cochlear implanted children is linked directly with their auditory perception and auditory memory. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the auditory perception ability of hearing impaired children using cochlear implants for 6 months. The eleven subject's mean age was 9.0 ± 3.13 years old. The ability of auditory perception was assessed using acoustic-synthetic vowel and speech materials. The acoustic-synthetic vowel was combined with F1, F2, and F3 into a vowel and produced 46 synthetic sound. Speech materials had used 2 sets at open-set situation. The periods of data collection was from 6 months to 15 months with CI experience. The data was deal with clustering analysis and on-line analytical processing for perception ability of acoustic synthetic vowel and with repeated measures design for speech perception ability. The results showed that auditory perception ability of acoustic-synthetic vowels and speech for cochlear implanted children was increased with the duration of cochlear implant use. Especially, the perception of segmental properties for CI children was found to be important F1 among various formants as well as distance rate between F1 and F2. And their speech perception was significantly noticeable growth at interval of 6 months with CI use and the perception scores in CI 15 months later was strongly correlated with that in 12 months. Therefore, the periods between 6 months and 12months of CI experience was crucially important for aural rehabilitation and language learning.
