The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of cognition-behavioral art therapy to depression of mothers of children with cerebral palsy. They are two mothers of children with cerebral palsy who were diagnosed with cerebral palsy in a hospital and scored over 17 points in BDI and agreed to an individual arts therapy.
This research was conducted during the period between September 2006 and December 2006, which included art therapy of 12 sessions in total, 60 minutes, once a week.
The study data have been changed results of pretest and posttest were illustrated as a diagram that showed result of the BDI. In addition, to investigate the changes of depression behaviors in everyday, make the subjects to write down the detail senses related to depression and behavior resulted from that. Then, described the changes of that frequency in table and detail explanations.
The results and discussions are as follows,
First, cognition-behavioral art therapy have found positive effects on the therapeutic changes when depression assessment has been examined.
Second, cognition-behavioral art therapy brought positive changes in depressive behavior of mothers of children with cerebral palsy in the every session's activities.
Third, cognition-behavioral art therapy also resulted in the positive changes when we investigate the changes of depression sense and behaviors in everyday.
Therefore, we can conclude that cognition-behavioral art therapy positively affects on the depression of mothers of children with cerebral palsy.
