Juvenile literature has correlation among domains. And, it can be said that fairy tale which is representative genre out of them has great meaning by having the experience to solve trouble through the mutual identification between babies and hero of fairy tale that babies read. Even in case of same fairy tale, educational effect of fairy tale to be listened through computer and that of fairy tale to be listened by intimate voice of teachers may be different.
The goal of this study aims at examining whether the attention concentration and pro-social-action of babies make difference in accordance with the fairy tale of drawing and the fairy tale of multimedia and presenting the effective method to make babies listen fairy tale.
Following subjects of study were established in this study.
First, Is there any difference in the attention concentration in
accordance with the fairy tale of drawing and the fairy tale of multi-media?
Second, Is there any difference in the pro-social-action of baby in accordance with the fairy tale of drawing and the fairy tale of
multi-media?
Subject of this study were 40 persons who are by 20 persons respectively out of 5-year-old-children at C kindergarten and M kindergarten located in K city. This researcher classified babies who participated in experiment into 2 groups by 20 persons, and made one group as the group of fairy tale of drawing and one group as the fairy tale of multi-media.
Experiment was executed for 10 weeks, and experiment was made over total 20 times by 2 times in 1 week per one group, and 10 volumes of fairy tale were listened by 1 volume in a week. In each baby group, execution was made by classifying 20 persons by 5 persons.
As for the list of fairy tale used in this study, there are puppy dung, cat, who did ease nature on my head? our mother who sucked bogey, Nobody knows who I am, badger's flower bed, go out of home oink-oink!, dentist, Dsoto, hatch and monster 4 brothers, & bull uncle.
Tool for testing attention concentration by Kwak, So Young(1998) was used as the tool to measure attention concentration. And, Lee, what Won Young, Park, Chan Ok, and Rho Young Heui(1993) manufactured as test tool for pro-social-action of babies after adapting, extracting, and correcting Skill situation measures of Mcginnisd goldstin(1990) as test tool for pro-social action.
So as to examine whether the fairy tale of drawing and the fairy tale of multi-media make difference in the attention concentration and pro-social-action of babies, t verification was made between groups.
And, the positive analysis of this study was verified at significant levels p<.05, p<.01, and p<.001. And, statistical handling was analyzed by using SPSSWIN 112.0 program.
To summarize findings is as follows:
First, As the result that this researcher examined whether there is difference in the attention concentration of babies between the fairy tale of drawing and the fairy tale of multi-media, it emerged that the fairy tale of multi-media was more effective than the fairy tale of drawing. That is, as for visual attention concentration and aural attention concentration which are the lower domains of attention concentration, group of fairy tale of multi-media was more effective than group of fairy tale of drawing. But, there was not great difference between the fairy tale of multi-media and the fairy tale of drawing in continuous attention concentration.
Fairy tale of multi-media was statistically significant as the result of prior test and post test, but fairy tale of drawing made no difference particularly. That is, as for fairy tale of drawing, it emerged that visual attention concentration and continuous attention concentration increased after experiment treatment but that aural attention concentration decreased. It could be seen that all the lower domains increased than before experiment in fairy tale of multi-media.
Thus, it was clarified that fairy tale of multi-media has greater influence on the attention concentration of babies and more effective than fairy tale of drawing.
Second, as the result that this researcher examined whether there is difference in pro-social-action between fairy tale of drawing and fairy tale of multi-media, it emerged that fairy tale of multi-media was more effective than fairy tale of drawing. That is, as for ability to control individual emotion and ability to form personal relation which are lower domains of pro-social-action, it emerged that there was not great difference between 2 groups. But, as for the ability of kindergarten adaptation, fairy tale of multi-media emerged higher than fairy tale of drawing. In addition, in all the fairy tale of drawing and fairy tale of multi-media, pro-social-action had significant difference beforehand and after the fact. Thus, it can be said that the effect of pro-social-action of fairy tale of multi-media is greater than that of fairy tale.
It can be said that stimulus to move vividly may attract the attention of baby and maintain concentration, as was shown in this findings.
Thus, it was clarified that fairy tale of multi-media is more effective than fairy tale of drawing for improving attention concentration and pro-social-action.
From the viewpoint of the base of this findings, it can be said that fairy tale, only itself has great educational value for babies. But, effect to stimulate babies is different in accordance with the method to make babies listen to fairy tale. So, about the activity of fairy tale at the institutions to educate babies, this researcher thinks that recognizing the importance of listening to fairy tale which uses diverse media such as using computer and diverse application methods will increase the effect of education all the more.
