This study conducted an investigation into the degree of articulation between the language life reflected in the kindergarten curriculum and the first-grade Korean curriculum in elementary school. Using the words stating the goals and contents, teaching and learning methods, and evaluations in the language life in the curriculums and Korean subject, the degree of the relations between the two was analyzed based on the six criteria of relation, inclusiveness, order, continuity, sequence, and commonness.
The research findings were as follows:
First, the overall articulations were deemed close between the kindergarten language life and the Korean subject in the goals and subgoals.
Second, even though the contents of the kindergarten language life didn't exactly correspond to those of the first-grade Korean subject, the degree of relations between them was relatively high.
Third, the teaching and learning methods presented in the kindergarten curriculum and the first-grade Korean curriculum included the learner-oriented level curriculum, diverse teaching activities enabling the students' participation, and the technique involving the teacher's open and divergent questions.
Fourth, both the curriculums pursued an evaluation based on the educational belief valuing the learner's growth, one contributing to the better teaching and learning methods, and a process-oriented evaluation.
Based on the results, the following suggestions were made:
First, an experiment study should be conducted to test the effects according to the perceptional degree of the goals of the kindergarten and Korean curriculum by the teachers at both the institutions.
Second, it's also necessary to examine how the teachers implement the contents of the Korean curriculum during class in addition to the contents about Korean found in the teaching materials for educational activities.
