가정에서 유아와 어머니의 컴퓨터 활동에 대한 조사

(Abstract)
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on desirable computer utilization for kindergartners by investigating the present status of their computer utilization at home and how their mothers were involved in their computer activity. This study set some research tasks as follows:
1) What is the present status of computer utilization of kindergartners at home?
1)-1 Is there any difference in current computer utilization of kindergartners in relation to their mothers' educational backgrounds?
1)-2 Is there any difference in current computer utilization of kindergartners in relationto the employment state of their mothers?
2) What is the present status of computer utilization of kindergartners and their mothers at home?
2)-1 Is there any difference in current computer utilization of kindergartners and their mothers in relation to the mothers' educational background?
2)-2 Is there any difference in the current computer utilization of kindergartners and their mothers in relation to the mothers' employment state?
3) What are the mothers' perceptions of increasing computer utilization efficiency of kindergartners?
3)-1 Is there any perception gap among mothers over increasing the efficiency of computer utilization of kindergartners at home according to their educational background?
3)-2 Is there any perception gap among mothers over increasing efficiency of computer utilization at home according to their employment state?

The subjects of this study consisted of 658 mothers of five-year-old children attending kindergartens located in Daegu, South Korea. The study analyzed questionnaires with SPAA 12.0, doing cross tabulation on each question according to the mothers' educational background and employment state. A chi-square analysis was also done.

Conclusions of the study are as follows:
First, regarding present status of computer utilization of kindergartners at home, appropriate computer surroundings are not available for kindergartners and a lack of information and proper software are obstacles. In addition, the higher the educational background of an kindergartener's mother, the more likely that family is to perform computer utilization in a family-shared place.
Second, regarding present status of computer utilization at home of kindergartners and their mothers, they not only perform computer-related activity but also visit Internet educational sites once or twice a week. Also, working mothers are less likely to spend time on the computer with children in a day.
Third, regarding the perception of mothers on increasing computer utilization efficiency of kindergarteners at home, the linkage between the concern between kindergarten and home represents a significant influence. Moreover, maintaining appropriate and varied educational software is necessary.

본 연구의 목적은 가정에서의 유아 컴퓨터 활동 현황과 어머니가 유아의 컴퓨터 활동에 어떤 형태로 참여하고 있는지 알아봄으로써 바람직한 유아 컴퓨터 활동의 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이와 같은 연구목적을 위해 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다.
1) 가정에서 유아 컴퓨터 활동 현황은 어떠한가?
1)-1 어머니의 학력에 따라 유아 컴퓨터 활동 현황은 차이가 있는가?
1)-2 어머니의 직업유무에 따라 유아 컴퓨터 활동 현황은 차이가 있는가?
2) 가정에서 유아와 어머니의 컴퓨터 사용 현황은 어떠한가?
2)-1 어머니의 학력에 따라 가정에서 유아와 어머니의 컴퓨터 사용 현황은 차이가 있는가?
2)-2 어머니의 직업유무에 따라 가정에서 유아와 어머니의 컴퓨터 사용 현황은 차이가 있는가?
3) 가정에서 유아 컴퓨터 활동의 효율성 증진을 위한 어머니의 인식은 어떠한가?
3)-1 어머니의 학력에 따라 가정에서 유아 컴퓨터 활동의 효율성 증진을 위한 어머니의 인식은 차이가 있는가?
3)-2 어머니의 직업유무에 따라 가정에서 유아 컴퓨터 활동의 효율성 증진을 위한 어머니의 인식은 차이가 있는가?

본 연구의 대상은 대구시에 위치한 유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아의 어머니 658명이었다. 연구 도구는 설문지를 사용하였으며 회수된 설문지는 SPSS 12.0 프로그램을 사용하여 어머니의 학력수준, 직업유무에 따라 각 문항별 교차 분석을 실시하였고, 관련성 검정은 카이자승 검증으로 연구결과를 분석하였다.

분석된 연구결과를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 가정에서 유아의 컴퓨터 활동 현황은 유아에게 적합한 컴퓨터 주변 환경이 제공되지 않고 있으며 정보와 적절한 소프트웨어 부족이 가장 장애가 되고 있다. 또한 어머니의 학력이 높을수록 가족공동공간에서 컴퓨터 활동을 하고 있다.
둘째, 가정에서 유아와 어머니의 컴퓨터 활동 현황을 보면 일주일에 1～2회 정도 유아와 컴퓨터 활동하고 교육용 인터넷 사이트를 이용한다. 또한 어머니가 직업이 있을수록 유아와 함께 하루에 컴퓨터를 거의 하지 않는다.
셋째, 가정에서 유아 컴퓨터 활동의 효율성 증진을 위한 어머니의 인식은 유아교육기관의 관심과 가정과의 연계성이 효과에 큰 영향을 주고, 유아에게 적절하고 다양한 교육용 소프트웨어 보유가 필요하였다.
