This study is to analyze how sensitivity-training takes effect on schizophrenic patient's expression of emotion. Having 13 patients providing sensitivity-training in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center as the experimental group, and another 13 patients without the training in the other Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center as the control group, I've looked into the patients' changes before and after the program in expression of emotion and got the conclusions as the following.
First, the experimental group's emotional behaviors have more significantly improved than the control group by sensitivity-training.
Second, by sensitivity-training, expression of positive emotion and expression of negative emotion showed more significant improvement in the experimental group than the control group. However, they didn't show significant improvement in expression of closeness.
Third, emotional expressivity has more significantly improved in the experimental group than the control group by sensitivity-training.
Forth, the experimental group had more of on average effect for interpersonal relationship than the control group. However, they didn't show significant improvement in terms of statistics.
As seen in the above, it necessary to expand social work programs for the emotional aspect such as sensitivity-training for schizophrenic patients' rehabilitation.
For that purpose, I've suggested the problems and what is to be improved for sensitivity-training process.
First, carrying out sensitivity-training, they didn't make the patients know various emotional expressions such as facial expression.
It seems that it would be more effective if they could use camera and video in order to let the patients show their own facial expression.
Second, it is difficult to check the continuity of the effect after sensitivity-training since the study didn't do post examination.
Therefore, we need post examination.
Third, the measurement tools used in this study have been proved to be reliable and valid in precedent researches. However, it could have problems if we just accept them as the most suitable tools for the purpose of this study.
It is essential to develop tools with which we could measure the emotion objectively and exactly.
Last, we should keep working on better program research for emotion and also develop integrated programs for improving both concept of self and interpersonal relationship.
