The purpose of present study extracted the sense of consideration factors and investigated the relationship between demographical variables and sense of consideration factors. Also, the relationship between sense of consideration, self-consciousness, and parents' rearing attitude was examined in the present study.
For the purpose, 402 middle school students were extracted from Masan city and Changwon city, Gyeongsangnam-do. The sense of consideration scale, the self-consciousness scale, and parents' rearing attitude scale were administered to the subjects. Subjects responses were analyzed by SPSSWIN. Principle axis factoring was used to identify the factor structure of sense of consideration. T-test and correlation was applied to identify the relationship of each factors with sex, parents'academic background and economic level, order of birth, self-consciousness, and parents' rearing attitude.
The findings of this research were as follows :
First, three factors structure were identified by principle axis factoring. Factor Ⅰ was empathy, Factor Ⅱ yielding, and Factor Ⅲ concern.
Second, there were sex differences of factor Ⅰ(empathy). Girls' empathy was higher than boys.
Third, the students' concern depended on their father's academic background. Those whose father has higher academic background had higher sense of consideration. The students' yielding depended on their family's economic level. The group of students in economically middle class had higher sense of consideration than the group of students in economically high class.
Forth, there were birth order differences of factor Ⅲ(concern). The group of students who are the third or the fourth children in the family had higher concern than the group of students who are the first or the second children.
Fifth, there was a positive correlation between the sense of consideration and self-consciousness in the students. The higher the students' self-consciousness was, the higher their sense of consideration was.
Sixth, there was a positive correlation between students' sense of consideration and their parents' affectionate rearing attitude and in favor of autonomy. The students whose parents' rearing attitude was more affectionate and in more favor of autonomy had higher sense of consideration.
