The purpose of this study was to examine whether verbal training by nursery songs of Q&A type had any effects on the communicative skills of autistic children. The subjects in this study were three autistic young children in the kindergarten department of B special school in G-gu, B metropolitan. Training was provided to them in 32 to 40 sessions, three times a week, 30 minutes each. Their communicative skills were measured in the base-line, intervention and retention periods, and their scores were converted into percentage and then shown in graphs. The language training that employed children's songs of Q&A type was more effective in improving their communication skills in the intervention period than in the base-line stage. When a retention test was conducted two weeks after the experiment to see if its effect remained unchanged, the autistic children scored highest in communicative skills. Based on the above-mentioned findings, the following conclusion was reached:
First, the language training by nursery songs of Q&A type had a good effect on improving the greeting communicative skills of the autistic children in terms of greeting.
Second, the language training by nursery songs of Q&A type was effective in enhancing the communicative skills of the autistic children in terms of replying.
Third, the verbal training by nursery songs of Q&A type was effective in elevating the communicative skills of the autistic children to ask something.
