The Gosanri site was excavated 3 times since then it had been known first in 1987. Through the excavation it is acknowledged as the earlist Neolithic age site in Korea, then it is appointed the country historic site No. 412. The mark artifact of the site is that the pottery of Gosanri type which is baked with an intermixed organism and a chipped flint arrowhead of various form. There is a variety of chipped stone implement, too. So it is concluded to the turning point site which has a stone implement making technique of the later Paleolithic age and the pottery making technique of the Neolithic age.
But there are many problems to understand time, character and origin because it is difficult to explain the artifact aspect of layer. Accordingly I try to grasp time, character and origin of the site through the study of the chipped flint arrowhead which is excavated most of all and is a characteristic thing, in the Gosanri site.
The Gosanri flint arrowhead is classified a tang arrowhead(flat form, curve form, 凸shaped form, mixed form, fish shaped form), a non tang arrowhead(flat form, curve form), a pentagonal arrowhead, a pointed arrowhead about the chipped flint arrowhead which is made by the pressure flaking. I analogize the shape development of flint arrowhead like this; a flat with non tang arrowhead → a flat with tang arrowhead, a curve with tang arrowhead, a curve with non tang arrowhead → a 凸shaped with tang arrowhead → a fish shaped arrowhead. This is based on the geographical matter of the site and the excavated artifact aspect of each spot. Also I infer the relation to Kantou part in Japan and the date(10,000~8,000 B.P.) of Gosanri site, through the classification of flint arrowhead material flake and the aspect of the accompanying artifact.
