This study examined the relationship among emotional clarity, emotional expressiveness, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and social anxiety. In addition to direct path of the effect of these emotional variables on social anxiety, I investigated mediating effects of ego-resilience as a protective factor. Social Avoidance and Distress Scale, Ego-Resiliency Scale, Trait Meta-mood Scale, Emotional Expressiveness Scale, and The Ambivalence Over Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire were administered to 896 undergraduate students. Results indicated that all the emotional variables were able to predict social anxiety significantly. And the mediating effect of ego-resiliency is significant statistically and suitable. This result implies that ego-resiliency may buffer the negative effects from the risk factors on the psychological adjustment especially social anxiety.
