This study is aimed to find out the influence of students’ musical creativity by applying creative activity programs using a picture-score targeting elementary school students in the 5th grade whose musical expression is active. To this purpose, each ten 5th year boy students and ten 5th year girl students of one class(39 persons) in P-elementary school located in Dongahn-gu, Anyang-shi were selected, and developed a creative activity program for four months(September 2005~December 2005). also, In order to find out about the influence of creative activities using a picture-score on musical creativity, a pre-test and a post-test were conducted with a tool of MCTM-Ⅱ(Measure of Creativity Thinking in Music) which is a musical creativity test created by Webster. Then, correlation among ME(Musical Extensiveness), MF(Musical Fluency), MO(Musical Originality), and MS(Musical Syntax) was reviewed and quantitative analysis verifying a significant difference between the pre-test and a post-test was obtained. Therefore, the following conclusion was deduced by analyzing the music instruction of creative activities videotaped as well as qualitative analysis of students' music works and location of the activity.First, as a result of verifying the difference between the pre-test and a post-test, it was concluded that creative activities using a picture-score significantly influences the enhancement of musical creativity which includes ME(Musical Extensiveness), MF(Musical Fluency), MO(Musical Originality), and MS(Musical Syntax).Second, the average for the change of MO(Musical Originality) of the components of musical creativity was proven to have the greatest difference between the pre-test and a post-test, and the average value for the change of MF(Musical Fluency) was proven the smallest. Also, the fluency of the components of creativity was the most unstable component, and the result was proven low due to a small number of frequency.Third, as a result of verifying the difference between the pre-test and a post-test by each project, all were proven significant. It was shown that the average value about the change of the pre-test and a post-test became different by creative activities using a picture-score and the musical perception and experience of students.Forth, as a result of performing creative activities by using a picture-score, there was a change in students' music works in terms of their quality as students’ understanding on a musical concept was enhanced. It was proven not only a picture-score was created by applying each concept to the creative works intentionally, but also a concretized concept was elaborately arranged through performing and listening. Furthermore, students were proven to make creative music works while perceiving correlation within the whole music rather than utilizing musical elements independently.Fifth, students use creativity development techniques in diverse manners by using a picture-score as a field of musical communication during creative activities. It was proven that they used the techniques as a field of expressing music which was planned in the head as a picture-score in detail or as a tool organizing the overall flow of music while transforming creative musical ideas in flexible and original shapes. In this study, it was concluded that creative activities using a picture-score brought forth qualitative changes of creative music works by increasing an understanding of musical concepts, and are effective in enhancing musical creativity.
