With the introduction of a five-day workweek, the subsequent decrease in working hours, and higher income levels, quality of life has been drawing greater attention. That has led consumers to spend their leisure time more actively than ever before and attach much more importance to the quality of leisure activities. As hedonic consumption, leisure activities are closely linked to emotional experiences which reflect various psychological changes. However, research on tourism, one of the most common leisure activities, has mainly focused on cognitive assessment, which shows the relative lack of research on emotional aspects. This article investigates consumption emotions at different stages of travel and their causes. It also analyzes the reason for differences in consumption emotions and their causes according to the type of travel and personal characteristics of consumers. In addition, it examines the relationship between consumption emotions, satisfaction, and the intention of repurchase and recommendation. The results of in-depth interview shows that there are differences in the type and intensity of emotions and their main causes at different stages of travel.
