The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects on Career Maturity of School Maladjusted Students in Career Search Program.
The subjects in this study are as follows.
1. Will the School Maladjusted Students group who have experienced Career Search Program show more meaningful difference in Career Maturity's Attitude Scale?
2. Will the School Maladjusted Students group who have experienced Career Search Program show more meaningful difference in Career Maturity's Cognitive Scale?
In order to the subjects in this study, 3th students in a middle school located in Dae-jun participated. Their the School Maladjust were measured into School Maladjust Searching Inventory. At result, the 20 students who were measured to the high score were selected.
They were divided into two groups at random : one is an experimental group and the other is a control group. The students of the experimental group were trained 8 times by Career Search Program procedure (twice a week; about 50 minutes for each meeting). The measuring instrument used in this study was Career Maturity Scale in Strong Career Searching Inventory by Korea Psychological Testing Institute (KPTI, 2000) and it was tested both before and after this program to statically analyze the result through paired-sample t-test.
The results are as follows:
1. The experimental group participated in the Career Search Program shows positive change in Career Maturity's Attitude Scale. The students in the experimental group showed a significant increase in Attitudinal Scale-Career Identy, Career Preparedness and Career Reasonable-, as opposed to the students in the control group. But, Family Concord showed a no significant increase.
2. The experimental group participated in the Career Search Program showspositive change in Career Maturity's Cognitive Scale, Knowledge of Occupational Information, as opposed to the students in the control group.
In conclusion, the Career Searching Program was effective in increasing career maturity of the School Maladjusted Students. And this result was the same result as School adjusted Students's.
In the future, it will be necessary to develop regular and long-term Career Search Programs for the improvement of career maturity.
