국문 초록 (Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

Koguryo(고구려) was established in Hwanin(桓仁) region where was sited on the middle Hun River(훈강), a branch of the Aprok River(압록강) in 37 B. C. From the geographical point of view the land of Hwanin was steep and baron without wide farms. But the place had a geographical advantage for the growth of Koguryo because traffic roads developed well for trading with neighbours. On the one hand this geographical position made Koguryo attacked by neighbours easily. But Koguryo was also able to attack other countries easily on the other hand. In fact It conquered many neighbours and developed the power of king using the most of the geographical advantage.
Thus Koguryo grew out of the conquer of neighbours from the beginning. But the study on the early period of It has scarcely been made up to now. Scholars have hardly been noted to the issues on the early expansion because they thought that the records on the early Koguryo were incredible and It only formed the complete system as a real state after King T'aejo. (태조)
But I recognized that the records of Samguk sagi (『삼국사기』) before King T'aejo echoed the historical facts as the result of analysing the historical materials in diverse aspects. So in this theses I studied the issues on the transition of territories in the early Koguryo from King Dongmyong(동명왕) to King Mobon(모본왕) based on the Bongi of Samguk sagi.
As the result of my researches, I concluded that Koguryo began to conquer the countries around It from the First King Dongmyong. The King subjugated Hangin and North Okcho(북옥저) eastward and expanded the territory of It up to the Yonhaeju(연해주) sited on the lower Duman River (두만강). In consequence of the expansion It gained a lot of irons, marine and agricultural products since It secured the iron mines of Musan(무산) and Hoyrung(화령) etc. and the east coast districts.
During the ruling period of the Second King Yuri(유리왕), Koguryo subdued another tribe Sonbi(선비족) living on the upper Yoha River(요하). Conquering the place It was able to get good horses from Sonbi and also protect the attack from Sin(新) and Buyo(부야 ). King Yuri also expanded the west border line to the Bongye(본계) districts subjugating Yangmaek(양맥) and Koguryo Hyun(고구려현) in Hyundo Kun(현도군). In addition Yuri tried to strengthen kingship moving the capital into Kuknaesung(국내성), Chipanhyun(집안현) at present.
Next King Daemusin(대무신왕) occupied wide territories attacking Buyo northward, and conquering another countries southward. He enjoyed the first position of the surrounding countries of Buyo origin building the tomb of King Dongmyung. He also weakened Buyo in the way of the development of Koguryo from the time of King Dongmyung and at last he met with Huhan in China.
Based on the achievements of the predecessors the Fifth King Mobon attacked to inland areas in china to isolate the troops of Huhan(후한) for guarding Yodong(요동) and he gained a lot of profits as a result of the war.
In short Koguryo possessed wide territories conquering the neighbouring countries from the First King Dongmyung to the Fifth King Mobon. In these periods Koguryo dominated the territories to east coast area near the lower Duman River(두만강) eastward, the whole Hamkyung(함경도) province only except Hamheung(함흥) southward, the lower Aprok River and the Bongye area in North Pyungan(평안북도) westward, and the Yonggang Mountains (용경산맥) which were the lands of the Sonbi northward.
And thus in the early time Koguryo already secured the territorial stronghold to increase the power of the state in the future. Because Koguryo held the strong power of king, centralistic system of kingship, and the great troops, it was possible for It to occupy the wide territories in the early periods.
Lastly, I want to emphasize the importance of the early history of Koguryo because the footing of the development of It was prepared in this periods. The records of Samguk sagi are also credible in the aspects of the transition of the territories in the early periods. Therefore I hope to utilize the text Samguk sagi positively when students study the history of the early Koguryo.
