This study has been done for the purpose of understanding the relationship between School Adjustment( teacher, friends, school life) and Health Problems, Character Traits, Self-esteem of the Children who Returned from Abroad.
The subject of study has been collected from 167 children who stayed on overseas at least for 6 months. They are from conveniently selected 8 elementary schools in 'S' city.
The data collection has been done from 10th to 30th of December, 2004.
The data analysed by the use SPSS program for t-test, AVOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient.
The results of were summarized as follows:
1. The mean score of teacher adjustment(2.90) friendship adjustment(3.27), and school life adjustment(3.07) each scored showing a low adjustment rate on the teacher adjustment meaning that the specific pupils have difficult relationship with the class teacher.
2. Health Problems(1.55), Character traits(2.85) seems to be extrovertive.
The mean score of on the matter of self esteem was more or less high (2.91).
3. Health Problem and school adjustment discovered to have an inverse proportion and character traits and self esteem discovered to have direct proportion
4. General feature and School adjustment ; girls are better adopted than boys and youngers showed better adjustment than older students
Also, students who are extrovertive with high self-esteem showed less health problem and well adapted to new study environment.
Therefore, boys in 4, 5 and 6 who are introspective with self-esteem has been considered to have more trouble with their health.
These students need constant consult and extra care to reduce and prevent the health problem.
Futhermore, to be well adapted to new environment of study.
