The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the biblio-counseling program which was to improved self-esteem of elementary school children.
For the purpose, this study set the following hypotheses;
Ⅰ. The self-esteem of the experimental group who had participated in the group biblio-counseling program will be more improved than the control group;
Ⅰ-1. The general self-esteem of the experimental group who had participated in the group biblio-counseling program will be more improved than the control group.
Ⅰ-2. The social self-esteem of the experimental group who had participated in the group biblio-counseling program will be more improved than the control group.
Ⅰ-3. The family self-esteem of the experimental group who had participated in the group biblio-counseling program will be more improved than the control group.
Ⅰ-4. The scholastic self-esteem of the experimental group who had participated in the group biblio-counseling program will be more improved than the control group.
This study was designed by two different group subjects.
The subjects were composed of 30 elementary school third grade children in order of low grade of self-esteem from the two classes which were verified the same quality. They were divided into the experimental group (N=15) and the control group (N=15).
As the result of self-esteem inventory pre-test, there were not significant differences between the experimental group and the control group.
This program was restructured this program based on the structured biblio-counseling program by Doll & Doll(1997) and the research by Kim Choon-Kyung(2003).
It was applied to the experimental group over total 12 sessions.
The statistical analysis of data was done by MANOVA.
The major finding of this study were drawn as follows;
Ⅰ. The experimental group who had participated in the biblio-counseling program were improved the self-esteem than the control group.
Ⅰ-1. the experimental group who had participated in the biblio-counseling program were improved the general self-esteem than the control group.
Ⅰ-2. the experimental group who had participated in the biblio-counseling program were not improved the social self-esteem than the control group.
Ⅰ-3. the experimental group who had participated in the biblio-counseling program were not improved the family self-esteem than the control group.
Ⅰ-4. the experimental group who had participated in the biblio-counseling program were improved the scholastic self-esteem than the control group.
