This study examines the relationship between satisfaction with academic major and job expectation among students majoring in physical education. In addition, this study explores the impacts of satisfaction with academic major and majoring department on future career and job expectations. To achieve research purposes, data were collected from students in sport-related department at 4 universities. 200 questionnaires were distributed and 193 were returned usable for analyses.
The questionnaires used in this study were adapted from Kim's(2002) study. To test research hypotheses, data were analyzed by using correlational analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and regression analysis via SPSS 11.0. Data analyses revealed the results as of follow:
First, there was a different perception on university satisfaction based on year of college among sport related majoring students.
Second, sport related majoring students in school of education showed higher major satisfaction than students in general department.
Third, freshmen showed higher departmental satisfaction than seniors.
Fourth, it was revealed that female students perceived higher job promising than male students and freshmen also perceived higher job promising than seniors did.
Fifth, it was revealed that sport related majoring students in school of education perceived higher job prestige than students in general department did.
Sixth, academic major satisfaction of sport related majoring students had an impact on university satisfaction.
Finally, perceived job promising and job prestige of sport related majoring students had impacts on both departmental and academic major satisfaction.
Based on results found, implications for researchers and practitioners were discussed. In addition, directions for future research were suggested.
