The purpose of this study is to examine the N(Net)-generation's behaviors
in shopping for clothes and searching for information on fashion trends on the
internet shopping malls.
The specific purposes of this study are following :
1. The study analyzes ⒜ relations in purchasing intention, ⒝ behaviors and
their satisfaction degrees through classifying them into groups with respect to
how they search for information on fashion trends, and ⒞ the degrees of the
use of the information. By analyzing these three things(#⒜, #⒝, and #⒞), the
N-generation's using degrees of the internet for searching the information of
fashion trends are examined.
2. By classifying factors on the subjects' purchasing intentions for fashion
goods, finding out the relations between the consumers' types and the amount
of their use of the internet in accordance with demographical traits and
searching types for the information, and analyzing their purchasing intentions
for the fashion goods on the internet shopping malls, it is examined whether
the data could be used for an internet company to set up an internet shopping
mall.
3. The N-generation's potential consuming properties are examined in the
relations between their behaviors in shopping for clothes and using degrees of
the internet for searching for information with demographical traits.
4. The N-generation's complaints about the internet shopping malls are
examined by classifying their degrees of satisfaction according to a factor and
analyzing the relations between the searching groups for the informations on
fashion goods and the amount of use made of the internet information.
The subjects of research are total 483 among students aged between 13 to 18
and the samples were selected randomly. For the method, questionnaires were
used by adjusting and complementing based on the previous works. Regarding
data analyses, SPSS, statistics package 7.5 were used. At the same time,
frequency and percentage calculation, multiple response analysis, cronbach α,
factor analysis, cluster analyses, chi-square test, T-test, one-way analysis of
variance, duncan test, correlation analysis were deployed as specific statistical
methods for analysis.
The results of data analysis are as follows :
1. Information search are classified into neutral information search, experience
information search and media information search. Consumer groups are
classified into neutral group, media search group and experience group.
2. When they are classified into three groups, ⒜ the active-use-of-information
group, ⒝ the general use group, and ⒞ the negative using group with respect
to the average using time of one contact on the internet and weekly using
times, the active-use group marks 42.0% and the N-generation is considered to
be using the internet actively. From the result of the examination of the
relations between the searching for information on fashion goods and the using
degrees of the internet information, it is indicated that media searching has a
lot to do with the using degrees.
3. When the factors on their consuming intentions are analyzed, identified are
five factors, including 1) convenience, 2) active use, 3) economical reasons, 4)
information searching, and 5) fashion trend finding. The factors have meaningful distributions in accordance with the subjects' distinction of sex,
academic years, monthly income and location of their residences. In the
consuming intentions for types of goods, they want to buy clothes the third
most and 36.9% of them want to buy one or more fashion goods.
4. The more they have experiences of buying on the internet shopping malls,
the more they use the internet shopping malls and most of them buy things of
10,000-20,000 won. Most of them pay for the goods without a bankbook.
Among those who have visited the internet shopping malls at least once, 53.7%
buy one or more things and they buy clothes third most. 29% of clothes are
bought from the all-fashion goods sites including accessories. The buying times
are different between male and female buyers. Male students buy things more
frequently than female students, they have more allowance, and spend more of
their allowance to buy clothes. Male students in Kangnam district buy things
more on the internet generally. In contrast, female students buy things less
than them and the more actively they use the internet, the more frequently
they buy things.
5. From the analysis of the data, four types of factors have been abstracted: ⒜
event or display, ⒝ buying things, ⒞ convenience of shopping and ⒟ privacy
of information. The difference between the searching groups for the
informations on fashion goods and the using degrees of the internet information
comes from events or display and privacy of information. In the three factors,
except for private information, the groups show different consuming behaviors.
In the difference of their satisfaction degrees with respect to the frequencies of
buying things, they buy things according to the factors of buying things and
privacy of information. The more their experience in buying things on the
internet, the more difference they have than those who have less in the
complaints for the goods. The same is shown for satisfaction degrees.
