조기 영어교육이 이후 학습에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Early English Education on Subsequent Language Learning

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to survey students and analyze what affects students' early English education experience and performance in elementary school.
First of all, In chapter Ⅱ, Ⅰ start with a theoretical background in linguistics, biology and emotional cognitive sociology. Chapter Ⅲ discusses other nations' English education practices as bases for Korea's own education practice. In chapter Ⅳ, we know through the questionnaire that early English education has an effect in elementary and middle school education.
The results of the questionnaire study are as follows:
First, most of the students surveyed have had an experience of early. English education through various learning methods, institutions etc. Also, we know if the early English education period is longer, we can more strongly effect student interest in English.
Second, students who began to learn English at an early age were more interested in learning English than students who didn't. A students interest in English is also affected by his or her ability.
Third, concerning confidence in English learning, students who received an early English education were more affected than students who didn't.
Though these results, I present several suggestion:
First, concerning the education period, a long learning period was found to be more effective than a short term. Accordingly, the government should support early English education.
Second, most the students have interest during elementary school but have lower interest during middle school. Accordingly, Education contents and methods should regard student interest.
Third, early English education affects reading skills but doesn't affect writing, grammar and listening. Accordingly, English education should enable students to adapt to the international community and give more chances to communicate with foreigners.
Fourth, the 7th curriculum's contents and aims of English education should be applied to elementary school and middle school. Also, in elementary school should be teach in connection with the middle school.
